Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Oxid VM and StackGo.

What makes your product unique?

Oxid VM's answer

Most Mac developers currently juggle Docker Desktop for containers, Parallels or UTM for OS virtualization, and separate CLI tools for Kubernetes. Oxid VM consolidates all three into a single native Apple Silicon app. It uses practically zero idle background memory and introduces disposable sandboxes built specifically to run AI coding agents safely.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Oxid VM's answer

Parallels charges expensive yearly subscriptions, while Docker Desktop is infamous for draining battery and chewing up memory. Oxid VM gives you hypervisor-level speed, container management, and total offline privacy for a simple one-time payment with zero monthly subscriptions.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Oxid VM's answer

Oxid VM is built for software engineers, DevOps specialists, cloud developers, AI builders, and Mac power users who need local Linux/Windows environments or lightweight containers without slowing down their machine.

What's the story behind your product?

Oxid VM's answer

Running local development environments on a Mac used to mean opening three different battery-draining apps. When we started using AI coding assistants, we also realized how risky it was to let them run scripts directly on our host OS. We built Oxid VM to solve both problems: a single, ultra-fast native app that handles VMs, containers, and instant throwaway sandboxes.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Oxid VM's answer

Oxid VM is built natively for macOS using Rust and Swift, leveraging Apple’s native Hypervisor framework directly. This guarantees maximum arm64 execution speed and minimal battery drain on Apple Silicon.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

Oxid VM's answer

Software and DevOps engineers running local multi-OS test beds

AI developers needing isolated sandboxes for Cursor and Claude Code agents

Full-stack developers switching away from resource-heavy Docker Desktop

Mac power users looking for a subscription-free alternative to Parallels
