Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Orb44 and OpenVAS.

What makes your product unique?

Orb44's answer

Orb44 stands out by combining external AI-driven web perimeter scanning with an internal "Watch Satellite" for VPS monitoring in one platform. Unlike traditional enterprise scanners that require complex setups, Orb44 is fully autonomous, requires no root access, leaves zero logs, and uses AI to provide clear, step-by-step remediation instructions rather than just a list of generic alerts.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Orb44's answer

Competitors require steep learning curves, complex setups, and massive enterprise budgets. Orb44 is built for creators, founders, and agencies who need immediate results without the friction or the premium price tag. Starting with a generous free tier and affordable premium plans, you get autonomous AI pentesting, actionable insights instead of generic alerts, and human expert support when you need it.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Orb44's answer

Orb44 is built for creators, indie developers, "vibe coders", business owners, and growing agencies. Our primary audience includes anyone who manages digital infrastructure but doesn't have the massive budget or specialized in-house expertise to use complex enterprise security tools. We cater to builders and entrepreneurs who need fast, affordable, and actionable security insights, backed by human expert support to actually fix the vulnerabilities.

What's the story behind your product?

Orb44's answer

Our team's core background is originally in Artificial Intelligence development, not purely cybersecurity. The idea for Orb44 actually came by accident. We were pulled in to help resolve a complex security issue, and while applying our AI expertise to analyze the problem, we discovered a highly efficient, automated method for finding web vulnerabilities. The results were so fast and accurate that we had a "lightbulb" moment. We realized this solution was too valuable to keep as an internal tool and decided to package it into an accessible, standalone product to help other founders and developers secure their infrastructure. That's how Orb44 was born.

  • Link CVE to installed applications?
Otherwise your on the right path checkout the open source Greenbones OpenVAS (this was Nessus before they closed source and became corporate) or Project Discovery Nuclei. Source: over 3 years ago
  • What should I be doing as the sole sysadmin for a company to keep up with security?
Personally, I was lucky enough to get a license to Nessus for my own scanning, however you can use OpenVAS for some free to scan. Scanners aren't 100% correct no matter where you go but it'll give you some things to look at. OpenVAS. Source: over 4 years ago
  • Wanting to protect my own homelab
Https://openvas.org/ OpenVAS is free and fairly capable. It might struggle cpu on a pi... Might need quite a bit of ram, but I'm hoping you've got some beefier kit in your stack. Source: over 4 years ago
