ThresholdIQ: Rebuilt the Engine From the Ground Up

A few weeks ago I launched ThresholdIQ to help teams monitor spreadsheet data without needing heavy BI tools like Microsoft Power BI or Tableau.

The first version used simple threshold rules: upload a file, set limits, and receive alerts when values crossed them.

It worked โ€” but one issue kept appearing.

Setting thresholds is harder than it sounds.

Seasonal revenue, slowly drifting metrics, and correlated data often break rule-based systems. So instead of improving the rule engine, I removed it.

ThresholdIQ v2 now uses 9 concurrent anomaly detection methods to detect unusual patterns automatically.

When you press Detect, the engine runs multiple analyses directly in your browser:

multi-window Z-score baselines

EWMA deviation detection

SARIMA seasonal modeling

Isolation Forest outlier detection

correlation deviation checks

DBSCAN clustering

Additional detectors catch seasonal hour/day effects, slow trend drift, and stuck or zero-value signals.

Each method contributes to a weighted score that determines alert severity: Warning, Critical, or Emergency.

Why everything runs in the browser

All analysis happens locally โ€” your data never leaves your machine. No server processing, no external APIs, no third-party calls.

The ML libraries are bundled directly into the app so everything runs offline.

Tech stack: Vanilla JS, Web Workers, Chart.js.

If you regularly monitor spreadsheet data, Iโ€™d love feedback.

Analysis of ThresholdIQ.app

Overall verdict

  • ThresholdIQ.app appears to be a niche or emerging tool, but there is insufficient verifiable public information available to independently confirm its features, reliability, or user satisfaction. I don't have specific, reliable data on this exact product to render a confident judgment, so any assessment should be treated as provisional until you review the site directly and check for user reviews, security certifications, and company transparency.

Why this product is good

  • Domain name suggests a focus on threshold-based intelligence or analytics, which could be useful for monitoring or alerting use cases
  • Lack of widespread reviews or press coverage means it may be a newer or smaller-scale product
  • Without verified information on pricing, security, and support, it's hard to confirm value or trustworthiness
  • Users should independently verify company background, data handling practices, and customer support quality before committing

Recommended for

  • Users who have already vetted the tool through direct testing or trusted referrals
  • Technical teams needing threshold or alert-based monitoring solutions who are comfortable evaluating new or unproven tools
  • Not recommended for those requiring an established track record, robust support, or extensive third-party validation without doing further due diligence first
