Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Nullstack and StayInScope.

What makes your product unique?

StayInScope's answer:

StayInScope is a tool focused on one problem faced by all freelancers, scope creep and resulting unbilled hours. StayInScope helps in detecting scope creep, generate and deliver change order with its E-Signature dashboard to keep track of the increasing scope for both parties involved. StayInScope also offers a dedicated mobile app, enabling its users to capture the scope change as its being discussed.
StayInScope also offers a client health dashboard, monitoring their scope change frequency, revision count, etc., helping users spot patterns before they become a major concern.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

StayInScope's answer:

Most project management tools treat scope creep as an afterthought โ€” either burying it behind expensive paywalls or offering no dedicated solution at all. This forces freelancers and small agencies to either overpay for bloated feature sets they don't need, or resort to manual workarounds like Excel or Notion โ€” both of which risk missing critical details or failing to deliver change orders in time. StayInScope takes a different approach. Rather than being another all-in-one project management suite, it focuses exclusively on scope creep detection and change order generation โ€” doing one thing exceptionally well. Combined with its Client Health Dashboard, which tracks metrics like revision velocity and approval latency to flag problematic clients early, StayInScope offers a depth of protection that broader tools simply don't prioritize. For freelancers and micro-agencies who face this problem daily, StayInScope isn't a feature buried in a subscription โ€” it's the entire product.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

StayInScope's answer:

StayInScope is built for solo freelancers, solopreneurs, and small agencies โ€” particularly those in creative and technical fields like web development, design, and consulting. These are professionals who regularly deal with clients adding to project scope mid-way, and who currently lack a dedicated tool to handle it. They stand to recover the most from StayInScope, as freelancers on average lose 15โ€“20% of their annual income to unbilled "invisible work" caused by unmanaged scope creep.

What's the story behind your product?

StayInScope's answer:

I have been a solo freelancer doing web development projects, and scope creep was something I kept running into across a lot of my projects. Clients would keep adding small requests here and there, and I never had a proper way to handle it without making things awkward. I would either let it go and lose money, or try to bring it up and risk the client relationship. I looked for a tool that would focus on just this problem, but everything out there was either a bloated project management suite with scope tracking buried behind a paywall, or I had to stitch together Excel and Notion and hope I didn't miss anything. I just wanted something focused. A tool built specifically for this problem and nothing else. That frustration is what led me to build StayInScope.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

StayInScope's answer:

StayInScope is built on a straightforward and reliable stack. The frontend is built using Angular, with Node.js powering the backend. For the database I am using PostgreSQL, managed through Supabase. This stack gives StayInScope a solid and scalable foundation, which is important for features like real-time change order generation and the client health dashboard that need to be fast and reliable. StayInScope is currently in development. If you are interested in being among the first to try it, you can register for the waitlist at stayinscope.com and we will notify you as soon as it is ready.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

StayInScope's answer:

StayInScope is currently in development and hasn't launched yet, so we don't have customers just yet. However, we already have freelancers and small agency owners on our waitlist who are eager to try it. If you'd like to be among the first, you can register at stayinscope.com.
