  • The Most Dangerous Cities in the U.S. (why is there a knife in Williston?)
I found the source. No place in ND made the top 100 list; neither did any make the Safest 100 list. visualcapitalist.com got the data from neighborhoodscout.com. The knife was placed for only for dramatic effect. It was positioned there because it's top center of the map and not in a place that would obscure points on the map. Source: about 3 years ago
  • Why is it OK among Republicans for their elected Office holders, right-wing pundits, and commentators to ridicule and make fun of the violent attack on Paul Polosi, Husband of the Speaker of the House of Representatives - 3rd in line for the presidency?
And San Francisco is a crime ridden shithole. According to neighborhoodscout.com, "With a crime rate of 51 per one thousand residents, San Francisco has one of the highest crime rates in America compared to all communities of all sizes - from the smallest towns to the very largest cities." Jacksonville, Florida and Mississippi were not part of my comment, so I have no clue why you brought them up. Source: over 3 years ago

  • Someone on another thread was asking about relative crime rates in Athens vs East Lansing and Ann Arbor. Here is comparative data. Everything is higher in Athens compared to East Lansing except auto theft.
Neighborhoodscout.com shows that East Lansing is safer than Lansing. I looked for another example of West Lafayette (Home of Perdue Univ.) having a lower crime rate than Lafayette so in terms of crime, a college satellite city (not sure if it is the right term) has a lower crime rate. • Is New Rochelle safe?
In fact, New Rochelle is the safest big city in New York according to neighborhoodscout.com. Here's how the top 10 biggest cities compare (higher is better. New Ro's 52 rating means it's safer than 52% of US cities). Source: over 4 years ago

  • OpenCode Hit 140K Stars. Why Terminal Agents Won 2026.
First, remote dev environments became table stakes. GitHub Codespaces, Gitpod, and self-hosted dev containers became how serious teams worked. Every engineer I know who ships to production now SSHs into a box they didn't provision, edits files with whatever editor is installed, and commits from a terminal. An IDE-bound agent requires you to also forward your IDE to the remote box, which most people don't bother... - Source: dev.to / 3 months ago
