Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Nauma and Codeisfun.

What makes your product unique?

Nauma's answer

Nauma builds financial goal-setting into the projection itself. Instead of one blended forecast, you split your goals into separate pipelines, each with its own accounts, its own start date, and its own finish date. Every pipeline still feeds into a single whole-life projection. That means you can actually see the optimal moment to do things like a Roth conversion, or buy vs. sell a house, instead of guessing. It's not just "run a projection." It's "plan each goal on its own timeline and see how they interact."

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Nauma's answer

Most planning tools give you one big projection and call it done. Nauma lets you break your financial life into individual goals like retirement, a home purchase, or funding a sabbatical, each with its own dedicated accounts and its own timeline, then rolls all of it into one lifetime projection. That's what makes timing decisions visible: you can pinpoint the right window for a Roth conversion, or see exactly how selling a house in year 5 vs. year 8 ripples through everything else. Add automated account syncing and an included 1-hour plan review, and you get precision most DIY tools can't match.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Nauma's answer

People whose finances aren't simple: trusts, real estate, stock options and other equity compensation, multiple accounts across different institutions, and tax situations that don't fit a basic calculator. It's less about one job title and more about one pattern. Money that's complicated enough that a generic budgeting app stops being useful.

What's the story behind your product?

Nauma's answer

Nauma was founded by engineers who watched the traditional advisor model take 1% of assets a year (about $50,000 annually on a $5M portfolio) while the advice itself barely changed. Worse, that model rewards advisors for keeping money locked up instead of helping clients actually use it: buy a home, start a business, take a sabbatical. Nauma flips that. The name itself is short for "No AUM," reflecting the goal of building the planning tool the founders wished existed: automated, transparent, and backed by real support instead of a percentage fee.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Nauma's answer

  • React 18 + Vite: core web application
  • Astro 5 (SSR): marketing site
  • React Router v7: client-side routing
  • TanStack React Query: data fetching and caching
  • Tailwind CSS, Material-Tailwind, Headless UI: UI components
  • Plaid: secure, read-only brokerage and bank account aggregation
  • Stripe: subscription billing
  • AWS (ECS/ECR) + Docker + Nginx: infrastructure and deployment
  • GitHub Actions: CI/CD

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

Nauma's answer

  • People with RSUs and concentrated stock positions navigating equity compensation
  • FIRE-focused planners modeling early retirement and multiple life scenarios
  • Individuals with complex tax situations: trusts, real estate, multiple accounts across institutions
  • Users diversifying concentrated stock positions through the Exchange Fund calculator
  • People modeling major life decisions: home purchases, career changes, sabbaticals
