Coding Assignment HelpMuscleBuddy's answer
Most fitness apps are a record of what you already did. MuscleBuddy decides what you should do next, on both training and nutrition, and then keeps deciding as your data comes in. Log a weigh-in and your macros move. Stall a lift and next week's prescription changes. Every adjustment arrives with the reasoning attached, so it is something you can argue with rather than a silent change you stop trusting.
The other unusual part is what's underneath. The coaching logic is deterministic engines, not LLM calls, so it is reproducible, testable and nearly free to run. That is why the free tier can be genuinely deep instead of a crippled trial.
MuscleBuddy's answer
Because nobody else holds both sides of the loop. Workout loggers like Hevy and Strong record sets and do no thinking. Fitbod prescribes training but never touches food. MyFitnessPal and MacroFactor own nutrition, and MacroFactor adapts calories well, but neither knows anything about your training. A stalled lift and a flat weight trend mean something completely different together than either does alone, and only an app holding both can act on that.
Practically that means one subscription instead of two apps that can't talk to each other, a free tier you can genuinely live on, and something that works offline in a gym basement because it's a PWA rather than a thin client.
MuscleBuddy's answer
Intermediate and advanced lifters who train with intent: people running structured programs, tracking macros, and chasing a specific physique or strength goal rather than looking for general wellness. They have usually outgrown a logging app and priced up a human coach at $200 to $400 a month.
The second audience is the coaches and small gyms who serve those people, who use the coaching tools to run clients without hand-building every spreadsheet.
MuscleBuddy's answer
I built it because I kept hitting the same wall as a lifter. Every app I tried logged what I did and then went quiet about the only question that matters: given what just happened, what should I do next. That answer has always been locked behind an expensive human coach, so most people guess, plateau and quit.
But most of what a good coach does is a rule system rather than magic. Progress the load when the reps land. Deload when they don't. Move calories when the weight trend drifts. Rebalance volume when a muscle group falls behind. That is software. So I built it solo: the training and nutrition engines, the API, the app, the billing, all of it. It is now in open beta with a free tier that isn't a trap.
MuscleBuddy's answer
TypeScript, React, Vite, Tailwind CSS, Node.js, Fastify, PostgreSQL, Prisma, Supabase, Stripe and Stripe Connect, Workbox and IndexedDB for the offline PWA layer, the Anthropic Claude API for the conversational coaching features, deployed on Vercel and Railway.
My programming assignment, in general, is good, I got 81 out of 100, and I was planning to get more, but it is still I still want to work with your team, and looking forward to receiving good work from a great team. I received some notes about the PPT that it was very basic, but overall, I would really thank you for the quick response and actions from your side in a perfect timeline :)
