MockBase puts conditional matching, sandboxed Jinja2 templating, stateful CRUD (a mock that actually remembers what you POSTed to it), chaos injection, and OpenAPI import/export into one hosted endpoint, with a live WebSocket request inspector on every mock. It's usable with zero signup — one click gets you a working endpoint with sample routes already on it.

If you need more than "return this JSON" — a mock that behaves differently based on a header, remembers what you created and lets you read it back, or fails on purpose at a rate you control to test retry logic — that combination usually means stitching together a local tool plus custom code. MockBase bundles it into one hosted URL your whole team (or a CI pipeline) can hit, without anyone running a local server.

Frontend work rarely waits for backend work to finish, and standing up a throwaway server just to unblock yourself is its own chore — dependencies, a port to remember, a process to keep alive. MockBase exists for that specific moment: a live endpoint in seconds, no server to babysit. It's deliberately narrow — not a full API platform with design, docs, and team management bundled in, just mocking, done well enough (dynamic responses, statefulness, realistic failure injection) to actually build and test against.

Python (FastAPI) on the backend with Redis for the hot-path mock configuration, request logs, and state storage, and PostgreSQL for accounts and content. The frontend is React with Vite and Tailwind CSS. Dynamic response templating runs on a sandboxed Jinja2 environment.
