Timestamp any document on Ethereum and get a certificate anyone can verify. The file is hashed in your browser and never uploaded — only the SHA-256 hash is recorded. No subscription and no crypto wallet.

BlockchainSign is a blockchain timestamping service for people holding documents they cannot hand over.

Conventional options all require custody: a copyright office wants a deposit copy, a notary wants to see the paper, an e-signature platform wants the file on its servers. BlockchainSign never receives the file at all. The document is hashed with SHA-256 in the user's own browser using the Web Crypto API, and only the resulting hash is written to the Ethereum blockchain.

The result is a certificate file recording the hash, the transaction and the timestamp. Because each certificate is its own Ethereum L1 transaction, with the payload hash readable as UTF-8 on a public block explorer, verification does not run through the vendor's portal: if BlockchainSign shut down, existing certificates would still verify.

There is no subscription and no cryptocurrency wallet involved. Certificates are bought as credits with a card and spent when needed. Credits are valid for 12 months; an issued certificate never expires.

Key points

  • The file is never uploaded — only its SHA-256 hash is transmitted
  • Recorded on Ethereum L1, one transaction per certificate
  • Verifiable on a public block explorer, independently of us
  • No subscription, no renewal, no wallet, no crypto knowledge needed
  • A free SHA-256 file hash generator is available with no account
  • Available in English, French, German, Spanish and Portuguese

What it does not do. A timestamp proves that a file existed in that exact form at that time — existence and integrity. It does not prove authorship or ownership, and it is not a substitute for copyright registration. There is no API or integrations yet, and no eIDAS qualified timestamp.

Possible disadvantages of Microsoft OneDrive

  • Offline Access
Although OneDrive has offline access capabilities, users sometimes experience sync issues where files aren't updated or downloaded properly when connectivity is restored.
  • File Size Limit
OneDrive imposes a file size limit for uploads, which can be a drawback for users needing to store and share very large files.
  • Cost
While OneDrive offers a limited free plan, the more useful features and larger storage capacities require a subscription, which might be costly for some users.
  • Complexity
For some users, especially those not already familiar with Microsoft products, OneDrive's UI and integration features can seem complicated and overwhelming.
  • Dependency on Internet Connection
As with most cloud-based services, an active internet connection is required to access and sync files, which can be inconvenient in areas with poor connectivity.

BlockchainSign features and specs

  • Blockchain-Based Security
Utilizes blockchain technology to timestamp and verify document signatures, creating an immutable record that can enhance trust and reduce the risk of tampering or fraud.
  • Decentralized Verification
Signature verification does not rely on a single centralized authority, which can increase transparency and allow independent verification of document authenticity.
  • Cost-Effective for Digital Signing
Blockchain-based signing solutions like this often provide competitive pricing compared to traditional e-signature platforms, especially for high-volume users.
  • Tamper-Evident Records
Once a document is signed and recorded on the blockchain, any attempt to alter it becomes detectable, providing strong evidence of document integrity over time.
  • Global Accessibility
As a web-based platform, it can be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection, making it convenient for international business transactions and remote signing needs.

For hosting common files it's ok. Also it is on Android too do, great to transfer files between your Windows and your phone. But if you want better security you have to subscribe a monthly offer.
