Utilix is a free web platform of calculators, converters, and small utilities built for people who want the correct answer and the reasoning behind it. Instead of showing only a final number, tools pair results with formulas (where they apply), step-by-step reasoning, and worked examplesโ€”so you can trust the output and understand the method.

What you can use it for

  • Finance & money โ€” loans and EMI, interest, discounts, salary/tax helpers, currency, mortgage, retirement, savings goals, and related calculators.
  • Developers โ€” encoding/decoding, hashing, UUIDs, JSON/YAML/CSV utilities, JWT decoding, cron explanation, regex testing, Markdown/HTML helpers, and more.
  • Math, science-of-daily-life, and conversions โ€” percentages, bases, ratios, units, temperature, file sizes, and similar quick solves.
  • Dates & times โ€” age, differences, durations, time zones, Unix timestamps.
  • Text, generators, design, SEO, lifestyle, health, AI helpers, crypto โ€” practical tools for everyday tasks, all in one consistent experience.

Why people choose it

  • Explain-first UX โ€” explanations are part of the product, not an afterthought.
  • Fast, focused pages โ€” built for โ€œopen tab โ†’ answer in seconds โ†’ done.โ€
  • No sign-up wall for using tools โ€” friction stays low.
  • Consistent interface across the catalog so repeat visits feel familiar.

Who itโ€™s for

Students, developers, freelancers, and general users who want accurate results with plain-language contextโ€”whether you are modeling a loan, converting units, formatting data, or checking a quick health or lifestyle estimate.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Mathway and Utilix.

What makes your product unique?

Utilix's answer:

Utilix treats the explanation as part of the product, not an extra article. Every tool is built to return a correct answer plus the method: formulas where they apply, step-by-step reasoning, and worked examples, in a single consistent interface across the whole catalog. It is optimized for speed and clarity (static pages, tight UX) rather than ad-heavy or inconsistent one-off calculator pages.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Utilix's answer:

Many large calculator sites stop at a number or bury the math under clutter and ads. Utilix is for people who want trust and understanding in one visit: same layout everywhere, fast interaction, mobile-friendly experience, and structured explanations by default. Compared to heavy โ€œdo everythingโ€ engines, Utilix stays focused on small, concrete tasks you can finish quicklyโ€”with outputs that are easy to read, copy, and (where supported) share via URL.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Utilix's answer:

The primary audience is people arriving from search with one specific questionโ€”loan math, a conversion, a dev encoding task, a date/time problem, a health estimate, etc.โ€”who need an answer in seconds. Secondary audiences include students and learners who want the why, not only the result, and developers / power users who want reliable, low-friction utilities (encoding, JSON, JWT, regex, and similar) without account walls.

What's the story behind your product?

Utilix's answer:

The product comes from a simple observation: small online tasks are fragmentedโ€”some sites are fast but unexplained, others are explained but slow or cluttered. The goal was to build one calm place where โ€œsmall problems disappear instantly,โ€ but not at the cost of understanding: every tool should make the reasoning visible (formula, steps, examples) while staying fast, consistent, and pleasant to use on real devices.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Utilix's answer:

Next.js (App Router), React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Zod, react-hook-form, mathjs (for formula-driven tools), Radix UI primitives with shadcn-style components, MDX for long-form content, Vitest for unit tests, and Playwright (including accessibility testing with axe). The app targets Node.js 22+ and uses pnpm for dependency management.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

Utilix's answer:

Utilix is a free, public web utility aimed at individual users (search traffic, students, professionals, developers). It is not sold as B2B software without accounts, so there is no meaningful โ€œlargest customerโ€ list like enterprise logos.
