Formfeed treats document templates like code. You write them in Jinja2, Liquid or Handlebars, or tag a Word or PowerPoint file, preview them in an editor that paginates like the final PDF, and render them with one API call. A CLI keeps templates in Git with snapshot tests and pull-request previews, and release channels let a template change roll out like a deploy. Rendering and storage run in Frankfurt (EU) by default.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Switching is quick: apitemplate.io, PDFMonkey and jsreport templates import directly, and an apitemplate.io-compatible endpoint keeps existing integrations working. Data stays in the EU by default, with rendering and storage in Frankfurt and the sub-processors listed publicly. You choose the template language (Jinja2, Liquid or Handlebars) or use Word and PowerPoint files, with helpers for money, dates, QR codes, GiroCodes, barcodes and charts. Developers get SDKs for TypeScript and Python and a CLI, agents get an MCP server. Pricing is in EUR and simple: one unit is a PDF of up to five pages or one image, and 100 units a month are free.

What's the story behind your product?

Formfeed is made in Germany and launched in 2026. It started from a simple conviction: a document template is code. It deserves an editor that knows your data, a preview you can trust, tests and a proper release process, rather than a drag-and-drop canvas. Keeping rendering and storage in the EU was part of the plan from the start, because invoices and contracts are full of personal data.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Formfeed.dev's answer:

TypeScript throughout, in an Nx monorepo. Documents are rendered by headless Chromium (Playwright) on Fly.io in Frankfurt, Word and PowerPoint files through LibreOffice (Gotenberg), and PDF tools use pdf-lib and qpdf. The API gateway and CDN run on Cloudflare Workers with Hono, files live in Cloudflare R2, and Supabase (Postgres) holds the data and handles sign-in. The app is Angular with the Monaco editor and Paged.js for the paginated preview; the template engines are Nunjucks, LiquidJS and Handlebars. The website is built with Astro, the docs with Docusaurus, and billing runs on Stripe.
