Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus and FocusReader for Chrome.

What makes your product unique?

FocusReader for Chrome's answer:

FocusReader combines two steps that are often split across separate tools: a distraction-free reader and exact quote capture with source context. You can open an article in a clean reader, save a selected passage with the page title, source URL, domain, timestamp, and an optional category, then export the local library as Markdown. Saved quotes and article content stay on the device; only a signed PRO license is sent to the license service for validation. The free tier includes 10 saved quotes, and PRO is a one-time $9.99 unlock for unlimited local saves.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

FocusReader for Chrome's answer:

FocusReader is primarily for researchers, writers, students, knowledge workers, and PKM or Obsidian users who read long web articles and need to keep exact passages with reliable source context. It also suits privacy-conscious Chrome users who prefer local storage and portable Markdown over building another cloud knowledge base.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

FocusReader for Chrome's answer:

Choose FocusReader if you want a lightweight, local-first workflow rather than an account-heavy cloud platform. It focuses on three connected jobs: reading an article without clutter, preserving an exact quote with its original source context, and exporting the library as standard Markdown. An account is not required to save quotes, and PRO is a one-time purchase rather than a subscription. FocusReader is intentionally focused; it is not trying to replace a full RSS reader, web archive, or collaborative citation manager.

What's the story behind your product?

FocusReader for Chrome's answer:

FocusReader was built around a simple workflow problem: reading an article cleanly and saving a trustworthy quotation often requires separate tools, manual copying, and reconstructing the source later. The product turns that into one local-first Chrome workflow: open the article in reader mode, save the exact passage with its source context, and export the library as Markdown. It deliberately stays focused instead of becoming another account-heavy note-taking platform.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

FocusReader for Chrome's answer:

FocusReader is a Chrome Manifest V3 extension built with HTML, CSS, and vanilla JavaScript. It packages Mozilla Readability locally for article extraction and uses Chrome extension APIs including activeTab, scripting, contextMenus, downloads, storage.local, and storage.session. The public website and HTTPS license endpoints run on Vercel, while Stripe Managed Payments provides one-time checkout and signed-license fulfillment. No remotely hosted code runs inside the extension.
