I haven't used Ditto so I don't know how closely macOS clipboard managers compare to it, but there's certainly a fair number of programs for the Mac out there that sound similar to Ditto's own description, from the free, open source Maccy to the somewhat over-the-top $13 Pastebot. Don't do bootcamp. Start with something like https://freecodecamp.org and take a few lessons. Try to build something from that and see how motivated you are. If you see some progress and this thing still excites you, then may be find an engineer (a friend/co worker etc) who can guide you a bit as you continue to build something.
