Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Lions Forge and Cert Decoder.

What's the story behind your product?

Lions Forge's answer

Lion's Forge began with a familiar problem: someone trying to help his brother improve dating-app photos, profile text and conversations, but being unable to provide useful feedback every time it was needed. The product was built to turn that kind of informal advice into a structured, always-available toolkit.

It started around three parts of the dating-app journey—photos, profiles and conversations—and later expanded into appearance guidance, photo editing, personal training plans and a context-aware AI coach. Lion's Forge is operated by Anoer Techonology Oy, a Helsinki startup founded by Alexander Curic.

Cert Decoder's answer:

I built certdecoder.com over the weekend for my own needs. Sometimes in my work, I need to verify and check certificate details.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Lions Forge's answer

Lion's Forge uses React and Vite for its web interface and Capacitor for native iOS and Android distribution. Supabase provides the PostgreSQL database, authentication, storage and Deno-based edge functions. AI features use Google Gemini through server-side functions for tasks such as photo analysis, profile feedback, bio generation and conversation assistance. The service uses TLS in transit and Supabase row-level security to restrict database access. More detail about data handling is available in the Lion's Forge privacy policy.

Cert Decoder's answer:

certdecoder.com was built using just JavaScript and HTML—simple, fast, and with all processing happening locally in your browser, so no certificate data is sent to any server

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Lions Forge's answer

Lion's Forge is primarily designed for adult men who already use dating apps such as Tinder, Hinge or Bumble and want structured help improving how they present themselves and communicate.

Typical use cases include: - Choosing and improving dating-profile photos - Reviewing profile structure, prompts and bio text - Getting several reply ideas when a conversation stalls - Analyzing longer conversations for communication patterns - Receiving grooming, appearance and personal-improvement guidance - Using one dashboard to revisit saved analyses over time

It is not a dating app and does not provide matches. Users continue using their existing dating platforms.

Cert Decoder's answer:

certdecoder.com is primarily built for developers, sysadmins, cybersecurity enthusiasts, and DevOps engineers.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Lions Forge's answer

Lion's Forge may suit someone who wants one toolkit covering more than a single dating task. Its tools span photo analysis and editing, profile layout and bio writing, reply ideas, conversation review, appearance guidance, personal training planning and ongoing AI coaching.

Different competitors specialize in different areas, so the best choice depends on the user's goal. Someone who only wants human profile feedback or only needs reply suggestions may prefer a specialist. Lion's Forge is designed for users who want to work across photos, profiles, messaging and self-improvement in one account. It is free to start, with optional Pro memberships and credit purchases for additional usage.

Cert Decoder's answer:

Simple, fast, and reliable. Some similar tools can’t even decode basic certificates. I rigorously tested my tool with many real-world certificates and covered several edge cases where competitors fall short.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

Lions Forge's answer

Lion's Forge does not currently publish named customer organizations or individual customer identities. It is a consumer dating-assistance product, and protecting user privacy is more appropriate than presenting private users as customer references. Its intended users are adult men seeking help with dating-profile photos, bios, profile structure, messaging and personal improvement.

Cert Decoder's answer:

certdecoder.com is primarily built for developers, sysadmins, cybersecurity enthusiasts, and DevOps engineers.

What makes your product unique?

Lions Forge's answer

Lion's Forge combines tools for several stages of online dating in one account. Users can review submitted photos, edit photos, preview and improve a dating profile, generate bio ideas, request reply suggestions, analyze longer conversations, receive appearance guidance and create a personal training plan. The GURU coach can use saved workshop results to provide more contextual guidance. Lion's Forge complements existing dating apps rather than operating as a dating marketplace. AI outputs are guidance and should be reviewed by the user; they do not guarantee matches, replies or dates.

Why? Because I built certdecoder.com and couldn’t find a decent place to submit it. So I said screw it — I’ll build my own. With blackjack and hookers. - Source: dev.to / over 1 year ago
