  • Developer Productivity vs Developer Experience: Why You Can't Fix One Without the Other
Most tools measure half the picture. Traditional metrics platforms like LinearB focus on quantitative signals (DORA metrics, cycle time). Survey platforms like Culture Amp capture sentiment across organizations but aren't developer-specific. DX (founded by DORA/SPACE research creators) combines developer surveys with SDLC analytics. • Journey to GNOME Circle: Community, App Ideas, and Getting Started
Since I'm a music producer (listen to my work here), I really like the idea of making music production in Linux easier. I had music-related ideas for my first app in the Circle: synthesizers, drum machines, and eventually a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). I started simple and went with Drum Machine. I would highly recommend enabling click and drag to "paint" notes. As it is right now, if I want 16 closed hats, I have to move, click, 16 times. I'd rather drag to paint based on whatever state of the note I start on. The mutes on the left would be better if they mute the notes, not the sounds. Muting and then enabling can end up playing the tail of some of the longer sounds. This isn't typically how you want... - Source: Hacker News / over 3 years ago
