The interviewer will find your gaps in 45 minutes. Gapmap finds them first: a short conversation draws your personal map of topics, a 15-minute diagnostic measures your real level on each, and you close the gaps with study notes and mock interviews - in text or voice - graded like the real thing. 200+ topics at senior depth are free and open, no signup.

LeetCode features and specs

  • Comprehensive Problem Library
LeetCode offers an extensive collection of problems ranging from easy to extremely difficult, covering a wide range of topics and difficulty levels.
  • Active Community
LeetCode has a vibrant and active community of users who contribute solutions, discuss problems, and provide insights, which can be very helpful for learning and debugging.
  • Interview Preparation
Many of the problems on LeetCode are modeled after questions that have been asked in technical interviews, making it a popular choice for job seekers to practice and prepare.
  • Company-specific Questions
LeetCode provides a list of problems that are frequently asked by specific companies during interviews, which can help users focus their preparation.
  • Detailed Explanations
Many problems come with detailed explanations and multiple approaches to solving them, helping users understand different methodologies and improve their coding skills.
  • Contest and Challenges
LeetCode regularly hosts coding contests and challenges, which provide users with opportunities to compete against others and improve their skills under time constraints.

Possible disadvantages of LeetCode

  • Paid Subscription
While LeetCode offers many resources for free, a premium subscription is required to access some advanced features, company-specific questions, additional test cases, and certain problem solutions.
  • Steep Learning Curve
For beginners, the wide range of problem difficulties and the complexity of some problems can be intimidating and may require a significant amount of time and effort to get up to speed.
  • Limited Technology Coverage
LeetCode mainly focuses on algorithm and data structure problems and doesn't cover other technical aspects like system design, databases, or front-end development as comprehensively.
  • Variable Quality of Community Solutions
While the community is active, the quality of user-contributed solutions and explanations can vary significantly, and some may not follow best practices or be optimal.
  • Platform Performance Issues
Some users report occasional performance issues such as slow loading times or glitches during peak usage times, which can be frustrating during practice or contests.
  • Overemphasis on Coding
LeetCode's focus is predominantly on coding problems, which might lead some users to neglect other important skills required for technical interviews, such as communication and problem-solving in real-world scenarios.

Gapmap.dev features and specs

  • Personal topic map
A conversation about your goal (role, stack, target level) composes a map of the topics that actually matter for it - not a one-size-fits-all checklist.
  • Adaptive diagnostic
A 15-minute session that measures your level on every topic of your map and colors it by depth - so you can see your real gaps before you spend a single hour studying.
  • Verification sessions
You explain a topic in your own words; an AI interviewer asks follow-up questions and grades your reasoning against per-question rubrics. A topic closes only when you've proven it.
  • Voice mock interviews
Full voice-to-voice interviews drawn from your own map - the questions target your weak topics, and the grading works the same as in text
  • Per-criterion feedback
Every graded answer comes back scored against explicit criteria: what landed, what was missing, what an interviewer would have pushed on.
  • Free study library
200+ interview topics with study notes written to senior depth and reviewed against official documentation. Free, no signup.
  • Interview breakdowns
Real interview questions broken down one by one: a strong spoken answer, why it works, where people slip, and the follow-ups to expect.
  • Work on next
The map maintains a short prioritized list of what to tackle next, re-ranked after every graded answer - no decision fatigue between sessions.

Analysis of Gapmap.dev

Overall verdict

  • Gapmap.dev appears to be a niche or emerging tool, and without verified, up-to-date information on its features, performance, and user reviews, I cannot confidently confirm its quality. I recommend researching current user feedback, documentation, and community discussions before relying on it for critical use cases.

Why this product is good

  • Limited publicly verified information is available about this specific tool's track record.
  • Its value likely depends on specific feature set (e.g., mapping gaps, skill gaps, or data gaps) which needs direct evaluation.
  • Newer or niche developer tools can offer innovative solutions but may lack the maturity of established alternatives.
  • User experience and reliability should be validated through hands-on testing or trusted reviews.

Recommended for

  • Developers or teams willing to evaluate a newer or niche tool through direct testing.
  • Users who have already vetted the tool through personal research, trials, or community feedback.
  • Those seeking alternatives to mainstream products and open to experimenting with less-established solutions.
  • Not recommended as a sole decision basis without further due diligence for mission-critical projects.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing LeetCode and Gapmap.dev.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

Gapmap.dev's answer:

Individual developers preparing for interviews - Gapmap is a personal tool, not a company subscription

What makes your product unique?

Gapmap.dev's answer:

Most interview prep starts with practice. Gapmap starts with measurement: a short conversation about your goal draws a personal map of topics, and a 15-minute adaptive diagnostic scores your actual level on each one - so you only study what's actually weak. A topic counts as closed when you've explained it out loud to an AI interviewer that asks follow-up questions and grades your reasoning against per-question rubrics - not when you tick a checkbox.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Gapmap.dev's answer:

Mock-interview platforms and question banks answer "how do I practice?" but leave "what exactly should I practice?" to you. Gapmap answers that question first and keeps re-answering it: the map re-prioritizes after every graded answer. The entire study library - 200+ topics written to senior depth - is free with no signup; you pay only for measurement and mock interviews.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Gapmap.dev's answer:

Mid-level and senior software engineers preparing for technical interviews - frontend, backend, DevOps, system design - who have limited prep time and need to spend it on real gaps, not on rereading everything. It also fits engineers returning to the job market after years at one company who no longer know where they stand.

What's the story behind your product?

Gapmap.dev's answer:

Gapmap grew out of our own interview prep. The standard routine - reread everything, grind questions, hope - wastes most of its time on topics you already know. The tool we wanted didn't exist: something that would honestly tell you what you don't know, then check that you can actually explain it out loud. So we built the grading engine first, and the map grew around it.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Gapmap.dev's answer:

Next.js (App Router), TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, PostgreSQL (Supabase), Drizzle ORM, deployed on Vercel. The grading, interview and voice layer runs on Anthropic's Claude models.
