Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing LaunchRender and Skaala.ai.

What makes your product unique?

Skaala.ai's answer:

Most AI receptionists do one thing: answer calls or book appointments or take payments. Skaala does all three on a single call, in 70+ languages, and you set it up by forwarding your existing number — no porting, no menu trees, no prompt engineering.

  • Full call lifecycle in one conversation: greet → qualify → book → take payment → SMS confirmation → CRM update
  • 70+ languages with native-quality voice
  • 5-minute setup via call forwarding
  • Flat $29/month — no per-minute charges
  • Built on production voice AI (ElevenLabs) and reasoning models (OpenAI)

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Skaala.ai's answer:

  • Versus answering services like Smith.ai or Ruby: Skaala costs roughly one-tenth as much, works 24/7 in any language, and actually books appointments and takes payments. Most answering services just take messages.
  • Versus voice AI platforms like Retell, Vapi, or Bland: those are developer toolkits. Skaala is the finished product — a small business owner connects a calendar, forwards their number, and they're live. No prompts to write.
  • Versus IVR menus and voicemail: callers hang up on both. Skaala holds a real conversation in the caller's own language.
  • Pricing: flat $29/month. Most voice-AI competitors charge $0.10–$0.30 per minute, which scales unpredictably with call volume.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Skaala.ai's answer:

Owner-operators and small teams (1–50 employees) where every missed call is lost revenue.

Common verticals: - Salons, barbershops, beauty - Dental, medical, and veterinary clinics - Trades: plumbing, electrical, HVAC, locksmith - Restaurants taking reservations - Real estate agents - Lawyers, accountants, financial advisors - Cleaning and home services

Common thread: the phone is still their primary booking channel, they don't have (or can't afford) a dedicated receptionist, and they often serve customers in more than one language.

What's the story behind your product?

Skaala.ai's answer:

Skaala was founded in 2024 by August Lönn and Andreas Alnatour, operating as Aicall AB out of Stockholm. We started after watching small business owners lose revenue every day because they couldn't answer their phones — they were cutting hair, fixing pipes, or seeing patients. The existing options weren't good enough: phone answering services were expensive and couldn't book or charge customers, IVR menus drove people away, and voice-AI developer platforms required engineering work most small businesses don't have.

Voice AI had finally reached the point where a model could handle a real end-to-end booking conversation, in any language, on the first ring. So we built the receptionist that fits how small businesses actually run: forward your number, connect a calendar, go live.

Backed by Microsoft for Startups and ElevenLabs Grants.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

Skaala.ai's answer:

  • Hotel Tinget — hotel & restaurant. "The phone used to ring in the middle of breakfast service. Now Skaala handles bookings and the most common questions — so we can focus on our guests." — Jesper Grönroos
  • YDA Trafikskola — driving school. "It's not just an answering machine. It helped a student find the right info, texted a course link, and they booked immediately. Bookings roll in while we are off duty — you have to keep up with the times." — Navid Qazi
  • Rehabkliniken — rehabilitation clinic. "Our receptionist is retiring, but her voice keeps answering the phone with Skaala." — Anders Dahlstrand
