Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Lastpass and Krypt.

What makes your product unique?

Krypt's answer:

Flat pricing. Every other hosted secrets manager charges per seat, so the bill grows every time you hire. Krypt is £10/month for the whole team no matter how many people join. It's the only hosted option that doesn't tax you for growing.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Krypt's answer:

If you're a team of 2 to 20, Doppler costs $12-21 per user per month and the alternatives that avoid per-seat pricing (Vault, Infisical) mean self-hosting and running the infrastructure yourself. Krypt is the middle option: fully hosted, nothing to run, one flat price. It's also deliberately smaller in scope, so setup takes minutes rather than days. If you need SSO or SOC 2 today, Doppler or Vault are the better choice and we'd say so.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Krypt's answer:

Small development teams, roughly 2 to 20 people, who currently share .env files over Slack or email. Startups, agencies and side projects that have outgrown a single .env file but don't need an enterprise secrets platform.

What's the story behind your product?

Krypt's answer:

I kept mixing up environment variables across my own projects, and when I looked at the existing tools they were either priced per seat, which gets expensive fast for a small team, or they meant running my own server. I wanted hosted and flat-priced and couldn't find it, so I built it. Launched July 2026.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Krypt's answer:

Node.js and Express on Railway for the API, React and Vite on Vercel for the dashboard, Supabase for the database, Clerk for authentication, Stripe for billing. The CLI is published on npm as @kryptorg/cli.
