In terms of professional development, ive benefitted a lot from being able to read and occasionally aks questions on r/cscareerquestions and r/FinancialCareers , but I haven't made long lasting connections on reddit. You might want to look at building a passive solar water heater. According to sciencedirect.com, "passive solar water heating systems generally transfer heat by natural circulation as a result of buoyancy due to temperature difference between two regimes; hence they do not require pumps to operate.
