Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Kubernetes and ZoneWatcher.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

ZoneWatcher's answer:

ZoneWatcher is the only DNS monitoring solution that integrates directly with dozens of DNS service providers such as AWS, CloudFlare and Azure. This allows us to fetch your DNS records in full and quickly detect changes in minutes, not in days.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

ZoneWatcher's answer:

ZoneWatcher focuses on providing tools to system administrators, IT teams, agencies, and consultancies which manage many domains.

What's the story behind your product?

ZoneWatcher's answer:

It began in 2016 out of some frustration I was having with consulting clients who would modify their DNS records incorrectly, breaking their email and/or website until I was able to get them back online. It was frustrating digging through emails or technical documents to find the original values before they had made their changes.

I wanted a tool that could automatically backup those records to make reverting easy while at the same time notifying me of any changes so issues could be proactively fixed before their business was impacted.

  • Postgres rewritten in Rust, now passing 100% of the Postgres regression tests
    > but it's still a singleton instance, so where do you run it? Most hardware doesn't give you enough uptime for what you need here, because what you actually needed was a re-architecture for distribution / failover / whatever, and while you could ask your LLM to do that you aren't going to run your bank on the result.
