LogStead is OSHA 300 recordkeeping software for small and mid-size US employers. It replaces the annual spreadsheet scramble with a guided workflow: answer plain-English questions in the recordability wizard (built on the criteria in 29 CFR 1904.4โ€“1904.7) and LogStead determines whether the case is recordable, creates the Form 301, updates the 300 Log, and rolls the totals into your 300A summary.

When deadlines come around, LogStead is already ready: print-ready PDFs of Forms 300, 300A, and 301, deadline tracking for the 7-day recording window and the February 1 posting date, and one-click export of the exact CSV files OSHA's Injury Tracking Application (ITA) accepts โ€” including the 300/301 case-detail file required for larger high-hazard establishments โ€” ahead of the March 2 electronic-submission deadline.

TRIR and DART rates are calculated automatically from your hours worked, and every create, update, and export lands in an append-only audit trail so your records hold up if an inspector asks. LogStead encrypts data in transit and at rest, and enforces organization isolation at the database layer with row-level security.

Plans start at $39/month (or $390/year โ€” 2 months free), with a 14-day free trial (no credit card). Free tools โ€” a recordability checker and a TRIR/DART rate calculator โ€” are available ungated at logstead.app/tools.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing KPA EHS and LogStead.app.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

LogStead.app's answer:

Safety managers, HR staff, and owners at small and mid-size US employers who have to keep an OSHA 300 log โ€” typically the person who inherits recordkeeping alongside another full-time job, and who currently does it in a spreadsheet.

What makes your product unique?

LogStead.app's answer:

LogStead does one thing: OSHA injury and illness recordkeeping under 29 CFR Part 1904. It is not a general EHS platform with a recordkeeping module bolted on, and that focus is the point โ€” the recordability wizard asks the specific sub-question the regulation actually hinges on, cites the rule in the result, and produces the exact CSV files OSHA's Injury Tracking Application accepts, including the 300/301 case-detail file larger high-hazard establishments owe.

The compliance logic is deterministic, not AI. The same facts always produce the same recordability answer, and every determination traces to a citation you can check. For a record you may have to defend to an inspector years later, that is a feature, not a limitation.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

LogStead.app's answer:

It depends what you are comparing against, and we would rather be straight about it.

Against a spreadsheet โ€” which is what most small employers actually use โ€” LogStead enforces the rules instead of trusting you to remember them: the 7-day recording window, the 180-day day-count cap, day counts in calendar days, the first aid list, the Feb 1 posting date, the March 2 ITA deadline. The 300, 300A and 301 stay consistent with each other by construction.

Against full enterprise EHS suites, LogStead is deliberately narrower. It does not do inspections, training management, or chemical management, and if you need those, one of those platforms is the better buy. What LogStead offers instead is the recordkeeping slice done thoroughly, priced for a small employer, with no implementation project between you and your first logged incident.

What's the story behind your product?

LogStead.app's answer:

OSHA recordkeeping is usually somebody's second job. At a small employer it lands on an office manager, an HR generalist, or the owner โ€” someone who is conscientious but was never trained on Part 1904, and who rediscovers the rules every January when the 300A is due.

The rules themselves are not vague. Whether a case is recordable, how days are counted, what counts as first aid โ€” these are written down and they are finite. What is missing is software that walks a non-specialist through them and keeps the forms consistent afterwards. LogStead was built to be that, rather than another spreadsheet template.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

LogStead.app's answer:

LogStead is a Next.js and TypeScript application running on Vercel, with PostgreSQL on Supabase for data and authentication. Tenant isolation is enforced in the database with row-level security rather than in application code alone, so a misconfigured request cannot return another organization's records. Data is encrypted in transit with TLS 1.3 and at rest, and every write lands in an append-only audit log.
