The quality of suggestions depends on the AI's ability to accurately assess what makes a GitHub profile effective, which may not always align with individual goals or industry-specific expectations.

The tool focuses specifically on GitHub profile optimization, which is only one small aspect of a developer's overall online presence and career development strategy.
  • Privacy Concerns

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Jot - Quick Capture and Gitmore.io.

What makes your product unique?

Jot - Quick Capture's answer

Jot does one thing: it catches a thought before it is gone. Press Option-Space from any app, type, and press Command-Return. The note lands in a searchable local log and the window disappears before you have lost your place. No app to open, no folder to pick, no window to find later.

  • Permission-free: No Accessibility, microphone, or screen-recording prompts, so it works the second you launch it.
  • On-device and private: Every note lives in a plain JSON file you own. No account, no cloud, no telemetry.
  • One searchable log: Everything collects in the menu bar; search instantly, click any entry to copy it, export to Markdown anytime.
  • Small and native: Universal Swift, about 650 KB, macOS 14 and up.
  • One-time price: $4.99 once, free updates, no subscription.

Gitmore.io's answer:

Gitmore represents a thoughtful approach to democratizing Git repository intelligence, successfully addressing the common challenge of extracting actionable insights from complex development activities. The platformโ€™s combination of AI-powered analysis, cross-platform compatibility, and business-friendly reporting creates compelling value for teams seeking to improve visibility into development progress without investing in comprehensive engineering analytics platforms.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Jot - Quick Capture's answer

Jot is a fully native macOS app.

  • Language: Swift
  • UI: SwiftUI with AppKit
  • Build: universal binary (Apple Silicon and Intel), notarized and Developer ID signed
  • Storage: local plain JSON on the user's Mac, no server and no cloud
  • Requirements: macOS 14 and up, about 650 KB
  • Third parties: none, so no analytics, accounts, or cloud services

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Jot - Quick Capture's answer

Mac users whose thoughts move faster than their windows, and who want to catch them without breaking focus.

  • Writers saving a line without leaving the draft.
  • Developers logging a TODO or bug without leaving the editor.
  • Students and researchers catching references and ideas mid-task.
  • Fast, busy minds that lose good thoughts in the time it takes to open a notes app.
  • Privacy-minded Mac users who want notes on-device, with no account and no cloud.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Jot - Quick Capture's answer

Most note apps are built to store and organize. Jot is built for the one moment they are slow at: capture.

  • Faster than opening anything: One global keystroke from any app, instead of switching to a notes app and finding a note.
  • Simpler than a system: No folders, tags, plugins, or setup to maintain, unlike Obsidian, Notion, or Bear.
  • One-time price: $4.99 once with free updates, instead of the subscriptions Drafts, Bear, and Ulysses charge.
  • Private by default: Plain text on your Mac, no account and no cloud.
  • Permission-free: It asks nothing of the system, so there is nothing to audit.

What's the story behind your product?

Jot - Quick Capture's answer

Jot started from a small, repeated frustration: an idea would land while I was deep in another app, and by the time I opened a notes app, picked a note, and started typing, the thought and the momentum were gone. A few times a day, that adds up to a lot of lost thinking.

So the goal was deliberately narrow: capture a thought in one keystroke, from anywhere, and get straight back to work, with nothing to open and nothing to organize. Everything else was left out. No folders, no accounts, no cloud, no permissions. Just a fast, private place to put a thought before it falls out of your head.

Jot is built and maintained by an independent developer in native Swift, and it ships on the Mac App Store and direct.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

Jot - Quick Capture's answer

Jot is sold directly to individuals rather than companies, so there are no enterprise accounts to name. Its users are individual Mac owners: writers, developers, students, researchers, and founders who capture ideas throughout the day. Privacy is a core promise, so Jot does not track who its users are.
