Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Most compressors upload your images or spit out renamed copies you have to sort through — ImgZilla does neither: it runs fully offline and compresses in place, keeping the same filename, path, and format. It also handles entire folders recursively with no quality dial to fuss over, and includes a built-in compare view so you can verify the visually lossless result yourself instead of taking it on faith.

What's the story behind your product?

imgZilla's answer

Four years ago I built a simple web-based image compressor and shared it online. People used it, but the recurring pushback was: was it really processing locally, or uploading photos to a server — and could it just be a native app instead? I didn't have a good answer at the time, so I said I'd figure out the technical issues later. It took a few years, but ImgZilla is that answer — a native macOS app that runs fully offline and compresses in place, built to finally close the gap that old thread left open.

It also runs inside Apple's App Sandbox, which restricts it to only reading and writing files the user explicitly selects or drags in — the same constraint that makes fully offline processing possible in the first place.
