If You Aint First's answer
Honestly, different jobs. Keepthescore and Leaderboarded are fine if you want a scoreboard on a TV or a stream. Challonge is the right call for brackets. For real, use it for tournaments. I built this for the group that argues all year: seasons that keep going, votes to settle debates, an AI announcer talking trash about the standings, and one link to get everyone in without installing anything. If you want the competition to be fun to follow and not just tallied, that's mine.
If You Aint First's answer
Group chats with a running argument. Fantasy leagues tracking punishments and side bets. Offices doing sales races or step challenges (Ricky has an office-safe setting so nobody ends up in HR). Families keeping score at game night. Basically anyone who's ever said 'we should keep track of this' and actually meant it.
If You Aint First's answer
I like ranking things. Movies, wings, people's Mario Kart performances, doesn't matter. I also wanted to see if an AI coding agent could build a real product end to end, so I pointed Claude at the idea and directed while it wrote the product, the code, the database, the billing, the safety tests, and honestly this listing too. The name comes from my favorite racing comedy, and it's also the whole thesis: somebody's first, and everybody else is last.

Next.js, React, and TypeScript on Vercel. Supabase for the database and auth (Postgres with row level security). Stripe for billing, Resend for email. Ricky runs on Anthropic's Claude models: Haiku on free boards and a smarter model on Pro boards. The whole thing was built with Claude Code, Anthropic's AI coding agent.
If You Aint First's answer
Most leaderboard tools are basically a number on a screen. I wanted the competition itself to be the fun part. Every board comes with Ricky, an AI announcer that calls lead changes, roasts whoever's in last, and writes weekly recaps. You control how hard he goes, from office-safe on up. Boards do scores or group votes, weekly or monthly rounds, winners get crowned automatically, and you get share cards for the group chat. Keeping score is easy. Having a rivalry is the point.
