HTML Canvas Deep Dive mentions (1)

  • Is it better to learn programming based on concepts or based on projects/products?
I sorta pieced together a bunch of different ideas eg. How to access the canvas API, how to "getContext", how to draw an image on that 2D context, how to repeatedly draw the image x times per second, how to design an input control system that modifies the object coordinates, etc. You are probably well acquainted with MDN so their Canvas tutorial is a good bet, but I personally really loved this "HTML Canvas Deep... Cavalry mentions (29)

  • From Motion designer to Full Stack developer
Motion design can be done through plenty of softwares. Blender, Cavalry, Davinci Resolve โ€ฆ to name a few. But the market monopoly stands with After Effects (AE). AE is irreplaceable. People will talk about all the alternatives, including free and open-source alternatives, but none come close. - Source: dev.to / 8 months ago
  • Adobe users are outraged over vague new policy's AI implications
You may want to edit your list to remove Figma since the Adobe acquisition is no longer happening :) And perhaps a combination of https://cavalry.scenegroup.co and https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/fusion could be After Effects alternatives. I haven't made the switch yet due to the number of AE plugins I own, but perhaps this most recent Adobe gaffe will do it for me. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago

  • Experiment #1
Ive used Cavalry, a new (mostly free) 2D animation app. Combined with VOID, a new (free demo) visual software. Source: over 2 years ago
  • After Effects getting progressively slower
Really depends on your workflow, but Im currently using Motion for 2D animation/"animated graphics design", managed to set up all my common lower thirds and transitions to Fusion templates in Resolve. I hear good things about apps like Cavalry(https://cavalry.scenegroup.co/ ), though it has a paid subscription tier so it's not that much of a win in a professional setting. Source: over 2 years ago
