  • Real Time Alerts
Receive immediate alerts when exceeding 79 mph, keeping your teen driver informed and promoting responsible driving habits.
  • Comprehensive Repository Analysis
git-sizer analyzes many different dimensions of a Git repository including commit count, tree size, blob size, history depth, and reference counts, providing a holistic view of repository health and potential scaling issues.
  • Easy to Use
The tool is simple to run with minimal setup—just execute it within a git repository—and it produces clear, human-readable output that highlights potential problem areas without requiring complex configuration.
  • Identifies Performance Bottlenecks
It helps identify specific issues that could degrade Git performance, such as excessively large blobs, deep history, large trees, or too many references, which is valuable before migrating or scaling repositories.
  • Open Source and Maintained by GitHub
Being an official GitHub project, it benefits from credibility, community trust, and ongoing maintenance, and it is well documented with clear explanations of what each metric means.
  • Useful for Pre-Migration Checks
It's particularly helpful for teams migrating repositories to new platforms or consolidating repos, as it flags potential issues that could cause problems during migration or with hosting providers' limits.

Possible disadvantages

  • No Automatic Remediation
git-sizer only identifies and reports issues but does not offer any built-in tools or automated processes to fix problems like large blobs or excessive history depth—users must use separate tools like BFG Repo-Cleaner or git-filter-repo.
  • Output Can Be Overwhelming for Beginners
While detailed, the output includes many metrics and threshold levels that may be confusing for users unfamiliar with Git internals, requiring some learning curve to fully interpret results.
  • Limited to Local Analysis
The tool analyzes a local clone of the repository, so it requires users to have a full local copy of the repo (or at least enough history) to get accurate results, which can be time-consuming for very large repositories.
  • No Real-Time Monitoring
It functions as a one-time analysis tool rather than providing continuous or real-time monitoring of repository health, requiring manual reruns to track changes over time.
  • Command-Line Only Interface
The tool lacks a graphical user interface, which may be less accessible for users who prefer visual dashboards or are less comfortable with command-line tools.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing GUIDE2Safeti and git-sizer.

What makes your product unique?

GUIDE2Safeti's answer

GUIDE2Safeti is a comprehensive tool designed specifically to bridge the gap between parents and teens during the supervised driving process. Unlike other apps, it provides a structured, easy-to-follow guide for parents, ensuring teens complete their required practice hours while focusing on safe and confident driving. Additionally, its fun and engaging approach, including rewards, badges, and input from Lulu, the mascot, helps teens stay motivated while learning essential skills.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

GUIDE2Safeti's answer

GUIDE2Safeti addresses important points:

  • Ensuring Minimum Practice Hours Are Completed: Many parents struggle with manually tracking practice hours, often leading to insufficient practice time, particularly at night.
  • Providing Quality Driving Practice for Teens: Our guide covers driving scenarios that parents may not initially think to practice with their teens. The goal is to prevent teens from encountering unfamiliar driving situations without prior practice, reducing the risks associated with inexperienced driving.
  • Covering Important Safety Topics with Teens: Through our driving guide, we offer tips and discuss critical safety topics to ensure parents address key areas with their teens.
  • Maintaining Motivation During Supervised Driving Practice: Supervised driving over six months to a year can become monotonous. To keep motivation high, we've integrated gamification features like points and badges.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

GUIDE2Safeti's answer

Our primary audience includes parents of teens aged 15–17 who are preparing for their driver's licenses and looking for support in fulfilling supervised driving requirements. Teens themselves are also secondary users, particularly those who enjoy gamified learning and rewards as part of their driving practice.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

GUIDE2Safeti's answer

Currently, GUIDE2Safeti is collaborating with driving schools and reaching out to parents and teens through schools, organizations, and partnerships. While GUIDE2Safeti is still expanding its customer base, it has been featured in FeatureStartups and is gaining attention in the safe driving space.

What's the story behind your product?

GUIDE2Safeti's answer

With over 12 years in the driver’s education industry, I realized the lack of resources for parents when teaching my own teens how to drive. The experience highlighted the influence of parental habits—good and bad—on teens learning to drive. Growing up in Europe, where professional instructors handle driving lessons, I was surprised by the responsibility placed on U.S. parents. I created GUIDE2Safeti to equip parents with the tools and confidence to guide their teens effectively, ensuring that driving practice goes beyond meeting hour requirements to building safe and skilled drivers.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

GUIDE2Safeti's answer

GUIDE2Safeti is available on the Apple Store and Google Play. The app leverages AI to provide real-time Q&A support and voice alerts when driving above 79 mph. Users earn badges and points by completing levels through the interactive driving guide and practice sessions. The app offers real-time feedback on driving behavior, analyzing events like hard acceleration, braking, and speed. It also tracks day and nighttime driving and monitors weather conditions to ensure practice under diverse scenarios, helping users build well-rounded driving skills.
