Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Google Forms and Form-Data.

What makes your product unique?

Form-Data's answer:

Form-Data is a unique form builder that uses AI to quickly create forms, and then allows you to edit them using simple text-to-form syntax, rather than cumbersome drag and drop.

  • Developers like it because it's the only form-builder that let them manage form-as-code right inside their code base, and deploy forms using CI/CD. Or, they can even BYOF - bring-your-own-form - and connect it to Form-Data backend to enjoy from spam protection, email notifications, and more.
  • Agencies and freelancers like it because they can manage forms of different customers in workspaces, and then invite customers and colleagues to collaborate with them

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Form-Data's answer:

Form-Data has all the features one may expect from a form builder, without committing to a monthly subscription. Form-Data unique and fair pricing model is based on non-expiring credits. You only pay for submissions while spam is not counted. You can also buy add-ons to enjoy advanced features for as low as $4/month.

What's the story behind your product?

Form-Data's answer:

Form-Data started as a humble side project back in 2019. While building another app, I just needed a simple, reliable way to handle form submissions, and quickly realized that the existing tools were either overpriced or overly complicated (or both). So, like any good developer detour, what began as a quick fix turned into something much bigger. Since then, Form-Data has grown into a full-featured platform used by hundreds of users, but it still carries that same spirit: keep it simple, do it well, and don’t overcharge for it.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Form-Data's answer:

The core technologies used are Cloudflare workers and its ecosystem, Google Firebase for its Firestore and Authorization. Emails are sent using Postmark and EmailIt, and spam protection is utilizing CleanTalk and Cloudflare Bot Detection.

The submission handler service is separate from all other services so it always remains stable and performant.

There are more technologies used, but these are the main ones that are at the core of Form-Data.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Form-Data's answer:

Form-Data has diverse customer base. Amongst them you can find Agencies and freelancers who build website for multiple customers as well as developers who build websites using Webflow, Wordpress, React, Vue or other technologies, and want to incorporate forms without maintaining any servers.

Google Forms Reviews

  1. Very convenient software!

Helps my company solve many issues. We collect information from clients and employees. We conduct surveys and collect data. Very useful software. Helps form a common opinion, conduct analysis and analytics.

    Competitors: Survio
    Pros:    Speed|Visual|Functionality
  2. ✓ Adrian | Mobile Forms - Digital Inspections - Enterprise Checklists - Data collection
    · Marketing at Mobile Forms ·
A good beginners tool to start your digital transformation.

One of our customers said: Our small mining operation needed to go from paper based process to digital forms. At first, Google forms allowed us to use this Web-based platform that lets individuals and businesses of all sizes build customizable forms to conduct surveys and generate real-time response charts.

We saw that a small sample of our field workers quickly adopted the new way of working.

    Step 1: accomplished.

    Now unto step 2.

How do we deploy this unto our whole team? We needed email notifications, offline response collection when without wifi on the field. Our CIO and his director of operations needed deep data and trends analysis as well. Our inspectors, when doing their audits, needed to capture approx. 25 high definition pictures, some audio notes and a video which wasn't really possible with google forms.

So, we can 100% credit the use of google forms to our transition towards a paperless process, but as we navigated saashub.com a little more, we were able to discover a world of alternatives. We strongly suggest to start using google forms before undergoing a big implementation plan towards such enterprise level inspection tools like nspek or even cheaper solutions like prontoforms.

I am not sure if we would start with google's solution first if we would to do this digital transformation all over, but it did allow us to discover it's limits pretty quickly.

At some point, we needed custom fields and functions, and none of us was able to code, so the nSpek training that comes with the application definitely sets it's self apart, giving us full autonomy.

    Competitors: nSpek, ProntoForms
    Pros:    No sign up cost
    Cons:    Customization|Customer support|Data protection and security|No video|No pictures
