Features and specs

What each product offers, as listed by its team.

git-sizer 5 features
Liberook 0 features
  • Comprehensive Repository Analysis
git-sizer analyzes many different dimensions of a Git repository including commit count, tree size, blob size, history depth, and reference counts, providing a holistic view of repository health and potential scaling issues.
  • Easy to Use
The tool is simple to run with minimal setup—just execute it within a git repository—and it produces clear, human-readable output that highlights potential problem areas without requiring complex configuration.
  • Identifies Performance Bottlenecks
It helps identify specific issues that could degrade Git performance, such as excessively large blobs, deep history, large trees, or too many references, which is valuable before migrating or scaling repositories.
  • Open Source and Maintained by GitHub
Being an official GitHub project, it benefits from credibility, community trust, and ongoing maintenance, and it is well documented with clear explanations of what each metric means.
  • Useful for Pre-Migration Checks
It's particularly helpful for teams migrating repositories to new platforms or consolidating repos, as it flags potential issues that could cause problems during migration or with hosting providers' limits.

Possible disadvantages

  • No Automatic Remediation
git-sizer only identifies and reports issues but does not offer any built-in tools or automated processes to fix problems like large blobs or excessive history depth—users must use separate tools like BFG Repo-Cleaner or git-filter-repo.
  • Output Can Be Overwhelming for Beginners
While detailed, the output includes many metrics and threshold levels that may be confusing for users unfamiliar with Git internals, requiring some learning curve to fully interpret results.
  • Limited to Local Analysis
The tool analyzes a local clone of the repository, so it requires users to have a full local copy of the repo (or at least enough history) to get accurate results, which can be time-consuming for very large repositories.
  • No Real-Time Monitoring
It functions as a one-time analysis tool rather than providing continuous or real-time monitoring of repository health, requiring manual reruns to track changes over time.
  • Command-Line Only Interface
The tool lacks a graphical user interface, which may be less accessible for users who prefer visual dashboards or are less comfortable with command-line tools.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing git-sizer and Liberook.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Liberook's answer:

  • HTML, CSS, and vanilla JavaScript (single-file, no build step)
  • PDF.js for parsing PDF files client-side
  • JSZip for parsing EPUB files client-side
  • Service Worker API for offline support and app shell caching
  • Web App Manifest for PWA installability on iOS, Android, and desktop
  • Cloudflare Workers for static hosting and edge delivery
  • Cloudflare Web Analytics for privacy-respecting visitor analytics

What's the story behind your product?

Liberook's answer:

The story is less technical than it looks. Young people around me are reading less and less — phones, short-form video, and endless scrolling have crowded out the patience a book requires. I wanted to meet them halfway: a reading format closer to the rhythms they already enjoy — fast, focused, a little like a game. Liberook flashes text one word at a time, includes a challenge mode that auto-accelerates as you go, and runs in any browser with no signup. The goal isn't to replace deep reading. It's to bring younger readers back to words — one word at a time.

What makes your product unique?

Liberook's answer:

Liberook is the only speed reader that's fully free, requires no account, runs entirely in the browser, and natively supports PDFs and EPUBs without conversion. It uses the Spritz-style RSVP technique with a highlighted focal letter, and adds a unique "challenge mode" — a guided training exercise that automatically accelerates you from 300 to 900 words per minute as cue phrases appear in the text. Installable as a Progressive Web App, works offline, no ads, no tracking.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Liberook's answer:

Most speed reading apps push users toward subscriptions, paywalls, or ad-supported reading. Liberook takes the opposite approach: one clean interface, no signup, no email capture, no premium tier. You open the site, paste or upload your text, and start reading. It handles PDFs and EPUBs directly in the browser rather than forcing exports. It works offline once installed. And unlike most apps in the category, Liberook is transparent about what RSVP actually does — the site includes an article on what peer-reviewed research says about speed reading, so users know exactly what to expect.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Liberook's answer:

Curious readers, students, knowledge workers, and productivity enthusiasts who want to get through more text in less time — articles, emails, newsletters, non-fiction books. Also people with large reading backlogs who need a fast way to triage what's worth reading deeply. Secondary audiences include language learners using RSVP to train reading fluency, and some dyslexic readers who find the single-word display easier to process than flowing text.
