Features and specs

What each product offers, as listed by its team.

git-sizer 5 features
Fiddlepop 7 features
  • Comprehensive Repository Analysis
git-sizer analyzes many different dimensions of a Git repository including commit count, tree size, blob size, history depth, and reference counts, providing a holistic view of repository health and potential scaling issues.
  • Easy to Use
The tool is simple to run with minimal setup—just execute it within a git repository—and it produces clear, human-readable output that highlights potential problem areas without requiring complex configuration.
  • Identifies Performance Bottlenecks
It helps identify specific issues that could degrade Git performance, such as excessively large blobs, deep history, large trees, or too many references, which is valuable before migrating or scaling repositories.
  • Open Source and Maintained by GitHub
Being an official GitHub project, it benefits from credibility, community trust, and ongoing maintenance, and it is well documented with clear explanations of what each metric means.
  • Useful for Pre-Migration Checks
It's particularly helpful for teams migrating repositories to new platforms or consolidating repos, as it flags potential issues that could cause problems during migration or with hosting providers' limits.

Possible disadvantages

  • No Automatic Remediation
git-sizer only identifies and reports issues but does not offer any built-in tools or automated processes to fix problems like large blobs or excessive history depth—users must use separate tools like BFG Repo-Cleaner or git-filter-repo.
  • Output Can Be Overwhelming for Beginners
While detailed, the output includes many metrics and threshold levels that may be confusing for users unfamiliar with Git internals, requiring some learning curve to fully interpret results.
  • Limited to Local Analysis
The tool analyzes a local clone of the repository, so it requires users to have a full local copy of the repo (or at least enough history) to get accurate results, which can be time-consuming for very large repositories.
  • No Real-Time Monitoring
It functions as a one-time analysis tool rather than providing continuous or real-time monitoring of repository health, requiring manual reruns to track changes over time.
  • Command-Line Only Interface
The tool lacks a graphical user interface, which may be less accessible for users who prefer visual dashboards or are less comfortable with command-line tools.
  • Free Tools
    4 categories, 15 calculators, 15 generators, 15 quizzes, 15 browser games
  • No Sign-Up Required
no accounts, no logins anywhere on the site
  • Self-Contained
    no templated/auto-generated content
  • Dark Mode
manual dark mode toggle that remembers the preference
  • Mobile Friendly
    fast-loading static pages
  • Transparent privacy policy
no data collection tied to the tools themselves
  • Completely Free
    no paywall or premium tier

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing git-sizer and Fiddlepop.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

Fiddlepop's answer:

Anyone and everyone: - Students - Parents - Professionals - etc. etc. etc.

Fiddlepop is a free, anonymous-use consumer tool site with no accounts or customer relationships.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Fiddlepop's answer:

No sign-up, no account, no clutter - open a tool and use it immediately. Fiddlepop bundles 60 genuinely working calculators, generators, quizzes, and browser games under one site, so most everyday quick-tool needs are covered in one visit instead of hunting across a dozen ad-stuffed single-purpose sites. Every page is written and built individually, not templated or auto-generated.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Fiddlepop's answer:

Everyday internet users looking for a fast, free answer to a specific task - students needing a GPA or percentage calculator, people splitting a bill or checking a loan payment, and anyone killing a few minutes with a quiz or a browser game. General consumer audience, not a technical or business one.

What's the story behind your product?

Fiddlepop's answer:

Built as a solo side project to create a modest, low-maintenance second income stream through ad revenue - not a funded startup or a get-rich-quick play. Launched September 2026 with a deliberately capped scope (50 tools max per category) and a hard rule against templated, scaled-up content, favoring a smaller set of genuinely useful, individually built tools over a padded directory.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Fiddlepop's answer:

Astro (static site generation), TypeScript/JavaScript for tool logic, hosted on Cloudflare Pages with the domain on Cloudflare Registrar, deployed automatically from GitHub on every push to main. Google Analytics (GA4) for traffic, Google AdSense for monetization, Web3Forms for the contact form. No backend, no database.

What makes your product unique?

Fiddlepop's answer:

The mix: original browser games with real retro throwbacks (a Nokia 3210-style monochrome Snake, a Chrome-dino-style endless runner, a full 7-piece Tetris) sitting alongside genuinely useful everyday tools - calculators, generators, quizzes - all free, with no sign-up and no account required for any of it. Most tool sites are single-purpose or padded with templated filler; Fiddlepop is a small, deliberately capped set of individually built tools and games people actually come back to use or play, not a directory of thin auto-generated pages.
