BookCraftr is a newly launched platform, so we are currently building our customer base. Our users are primarily indie authors and self-publishers looking for a simpler way to write, format, design and prepare professional books for Amazon KDP and other self-publishing platforms.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

BookCraftr's answer:

BookCraftr is designed primarily for indie authors and self-publishers who want an easier way to take their books from manuscript to publication. It is ideal for novelists, non-fiction authors, first-time writers, experienced self-publishers, and anyone preparing eBooks or print books for Amazon KDP and similar publishing platforms.

BookCraftr is especially suited to authors who want professional results without learning complex desktop publishing software or relying on multiple separate tools for writing, formatting, previewing and cover design.

What's the story behind your product?

BookCraftr's answer:

BookCraftr grew out of my own experience as an author and self-publisher. I found that finishing a manuscript was only the beginning. Turning it into a professional book meant moving between different tools for writing, formatting, previewing, calculating cover dimensions, designing the cover, and finally preparing everything for publication.

After repeatedly going through the process of taking manuscripts from Word into specialist formatting software and then preparing them for Amazon KDP, I began to wonder why the entire process couldn't be simpler.

That idea became BookCraftr. I wanted to create a single platform where authors could write and organise their books, format them professionally, preview eBook and print editions, generate accurate cover templates, design their covers, and prepare their work for publication without constantly switching between applications.

BookCraftr was built by an author, for authors, with a simple goal: make the journey from manuscript to published book easier, more intuitive, and less technical so writers can spend more time creating books and less time wrestling with the publishing process.

BookCraftr brings the entire book creation and publishing workflow into one streamlined platform. Instead of writing in Word, formatting in a separate application, calculating cover dimensions with another tool, designing the cover elsewhere, and then preparing everything for KDP, authors can do it all within BookCraftr.

What sets BookCraftr apart is its combination of a purpose-built book editor, real-time eBook and paperback previews, professional book formatting, automatic KDP cover template generation, and a full visual cover designer. Authors can move from manuscript to professionally formatted, publish-ready eBook and print files without constantly switching between different applications.

BookCraftr is a modern web application built using React and TypeScript, with Supabase providing backend services including PostgreSQL database functionality, authentication and storage. The platform also uses Fabric.js to power its integrated visual book cover designer.
