Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing FishPal and StackBlitz.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

FishPal's answer

FishPal is designed to do more than just store your catches—it helps you become a better angler. While many fishing apps focus on manual catch logging or simple maps, FishPal combines AI, powerful analytics, and modern technology into one seamless experience.

With FishPal you can:

  • Log catches in seconds using AI from a single photo.
  • Automatically capture conditions like weather, moon phase, waterbody, location, and time.
  • Analyze your fishing patterns to discover what works best by season, lure, species, weather, and location.
  • Create and manage your own fishing spots with detailed maps and notes.
  • Access premium Navionics® depth charts (Premium) for better understanding of underwater structure.
  • Track Fish Fights with Apple Watch to record fight duration, heart rate, calories burned, GPS movement, and relive your most memorable catches.
  • Keep all your fishing memories in one place, from trophy catches to personal bests and favorite locations.

Rather than offering just another digital logbook, FishPal provides a complete ecosystem that helps you plan better trips, learn from every outing, and preserve every fishing memory. Whether you’re a weekend angler or a dedicated sport fisherman, FishPal grows with you and becomes more valuable every time you use it.

What makes your product unique?

FishPal's answer

FishPal is more than a digital fishing log—it’s an AI-powered fishing companion. Simply take a photo of your catch and FishPal can identify the species, estimate its length and weight, and automatically log key details like location, weather, moon phase, and time. Beyond catch logging, FishPal helps you analyze fishing spots, track your personal bests, monitor seasonal patterns, and even relive fish fights with Apple Watch integration. Combined with premium Navionics® depth charts and intelligent fishing insights, FishPal brings your entire fishing experience together in one app.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

FishPal's answer

FishPal is built for recreational and sport anglers of all experience levels who want to get more out of every fishing trip. Whether you’re just starting out or have years of experience, FishPal helps you record catches, understand patterns, and improve your success on the water.

Our primary audience includes:

  • Freshwater and saltwater anglers who want an easy way to log and organize their catches.
  • Tech-savvy anglers who appreciate AI-powered features, smart analytics, and modern mapping tools.
  • Competitive and dedicated fishermen looking to analyze their performance and optimize their fishing strategy.
  • Weekend and casual anglers who want to preserve memories and spend less time manually entering data.
  • Apple ecosystem users, especially those with an Apple Watch, who want to track and relive their fish fights.

FishPal is ideal for anglers who see fishing as more than a hobby. It’s for people who want to learn from every trip, discover patterns that lead to more successful catches, and build a complete digital record of their fishing adventures.

What's the story behind your product?

FishPal's answer

FishPal was born from a simple frustration: after every fishing trip, I found myself trying to remember where I caught a fish, what lure I used, what the weather was like, and why that day had been so successful. Existing fishing apps either required too much manual input or felt outdated and lacked the tools modern anglers actually need.

As both a passionate angler and an iOS developer, I decided to build the app I always wished existed.

The vision was simple: make fishing technology effortless. Instead of spending time filling out forms, you should be able to take a photo of your catch and let AI handle the rest. From there, FishPal evolved into much more than a catch log—adding intelligent fishing analytics, custom fishing spots, premium depth charts, and Fish Fight tracking with Apple Watch to help anglers learn from every outing and relive their best moments.

Today, FishPal’s mission is to help anglers spend less time logging data and more time fishing, while giving them powerful insights that improve every trip to the water.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

FishPal's answer

FishPal is built using a modern, cloud-based technology stack designed for performance, scalability, and privacy.

FishPal is designed with an offline-first architecture, allowing anglers to continue using key features even when they’re on remote lakes or offshore without a reliable internet connection. When connectivity returns, data is securely synchronized with the cloud.

By combining native Apple technologies with AI and modern cloud services, FishPal delivers a fast, reliable, and intelligent fishing experience while keeping your data secure and accessible across your devices.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

FishPal's answer

FishPal is currently focused on serving individual anglers rather than enterprise customers, so we don’t have large corporate customers to highlight.

Our growing user base includes:

  • Recreational freshwater anglers.
  • Saltwater and coastal fishermen.
  • Predator anglers targeting species like bass, pike, zander, and musky.
  • Trout, salmon, and fly-fishing enthusiasts.
  • Dedicated sport anglers who use FishPal to analyze their catches and improve their success over time.

As FishPal continues to grow, we’re actively exploring partnerships with fishing clubs, guides, tournaments, tackle brands, and other organizations within the fishing industry. However, our primary focus remains building the best possible experience for anglers around the world.
