  • Workstation Edition
Fedora offers a Workstation edition that is specifically tailored for personal computers, offering a polished and user-friendly desktop environment.

Possible disadvantages of Fedora

  • Frequent Updates
The cutting-edge nature of Fedora means frequent updates, which can be overwhelming for users who prefer a more stable and less frequently changing system.
  • Short Life Cycle
Fedora has a relatively short life cycle of approximately 13 months for each release, meaning users need to upgrade more frequently compared to some other distributions.
  • Software Compatibility
Due to its focus on free and open-source software, Fedora may not include some proprietary drivers and codecs by default, which may require additional setup to install.
  • Learning Curve
While Fedora is user-friendly, it might have a steeper learning curve for new Linux users compared to more beginner-oriented distributions like Ubuntu.
  • Limited Corporate Support
Unlike Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Fedora does not come with official corporate support, which can be a drawback for business users who require enterprise-level technical support.
  • Hardware Compatibility
Some users might experience hardware compatibility issues, especially with very new hardware, due to the rapid pace of updates and the lack of proprietary drivers.

  • Multi-track Editing
Users can work with multiple tracks simultaneously, which is particularly useful for creating complex projects like podcasts and music compositions.

Possible disadvantages of Audacity

  • User Interface
The interface can seem outdated and cluttered compared to other modern DAWs, which might make it less appealing or harder to navigate for some users.
  • Learning Curve
While powerful, Audacity can be somewhat overwhelming for beginners due to its extensive range of features and lack of guided tutorials within the software.
  • Non-Destructive Editing
Audacity lacks non-destructive editing, meaning changes are applied directly to the audio files, potentially leading to loss of original audio if not carefully managed.
  • Limited MIDI Support
Audacity's MIDI capabilities are limited, which could be a drawback for musicians looking to integrate MIDI instruments and controllers into their projects.
  • Real-Time Effects
The software does not support real-time effect processing, requiring users to apply effects offline, which can be less efficient for users needing immediate auditory feedback.

  • what are some good laptops to buy?
I am using HP Omen. I easily open it, clean it and change the thermal paste every 3 months (they have detailed guides on YouTube). My laptop had another SSD slot and I upgraded it with a new Samsung 1TB SSD and I am looking to upgrade the RAM from 16 GB to 64GB soon. Since I do not like Windows, I have installed Fedora on it. If I want I can turn in into a Hackintosh and install macOS too. The possibilities are... Source: about 3 years ago

If you have audio clips in a compressed format, such as MP3, we recommend converting them to a lossless format like WAV or FLAC using free audio editor software like Audacity. OpenShot prefers working with uncompressed audio during project editing. Similarly, if your video clips are in a format other than MP4, use free video converter software, such as Handbrake, to convert them to MP4 format, as OpenShot prefers... Source: about 3 years ago
  • Voice Over
OpenShot does not have a record feature. You can use free audio editor software such as Audacity to record your voice-over audio and export the clip as an uncompressed audio file (I recommend FLAC). Import the audio clip into OpenShot and align the clips on the Timeline. Source: about 3 years ago
  • I downloaded audacity from github as that was what was linked on the ds modding wiki and I needed it for theme background music
That's valid, but unless you have a reason to specifically want that old version you might wish to get the current version from its official source at https://audacityteam.org . Source: about 3 years ago
  • Question from a frustrated user.
The only other thing I can think of to try is a completely clean install; not just uninstalling Audacity, but trashing any config, cache, and other files it may leave on your computer after uninstall. Only after you've zapped away any trace of Audacity from your system should you download it again from https://audacityteam.org and reinstall. Source: over 3 years ago
  • Progressing through the late beginner stage?
What changed my playing ( and my life ) was a digital multi-track recorder. I use a BOSS Micro BR, but a laptop equipped with Audacity ( https://audacityteam.org ) would work as well. I started working on multi-part pieces recording one line and then the next over it. I got better quickly, and it was fun. Source: over 3 years ago
