Express is a practical fit for REST endpoints, webhooks, third-party integrations, and server APIs. But those endpoints often need the authenticated Meteor user, existing authorization rules, and access to private application data. Before accounts-express, bridging that boundary could mean custom middleware, manual token handling, or a parallel authentication model around Express. - Source: dev.to / 11 days ago

Casbin provides an external policy engine if your permission model grows complex enough that a centralized JS function becomes hard to maintain. Open Policy Agent serves the same purpose for multi-service architectures. Node.js and Express.js documentation cover the middleware pattern in detail. - Source: dev.to / 4 months ago
Many REST frameworks also ship with limited security controls enabled by default. Express.js , a minimal web framework, does not include rate limiting or input validation out of the box and relies on middleware for these concerns. Django REST Framework includes throttling features, but they are not enabled by default. - Source: dev.to / 4 months ago
Nearly every server-side web framework uses some version of MVC. Django calls it MTV (Model-Template-View), Rails follows classic MVC, and Express.js gives you the building blocks to implement your own version. - Source: dev.to / 4 months ago
Do try https://diff.blog which is an aggregator of developer and engineering company blogs which I built. diff.blog tracks over 2000 blogs at the moment. I have been maintaining it for close to 5 years now. And it looks like 2025 is finally the year of RSS :). - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago

Personally, I feel like nothing happened to Reddit. Communities that I visit are pretty much what they were before Reddit changed its API policies. However, there's a subreddit for reddit alternatives (r/RedditAlternative) if you're curious :)) Lemmy and lobsters are the dominant ones in my mind. For HNews? Probably https://diff.blog/ would be one of the alternatives. I must say, if reddit goes dark today, I'd be... - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
You could use a personal site and host it in github pages if you don't want to post your content on an existing platform. And since you are interested in computer science, having a personal blog site would add a lot of value in your career. Its not that hard to build one with Hugo Framework if you really just want to get one site up and running. Then link your blog to diff.blog for a wider audience maybe. I have... Medium even supports mirror your posts with the canonical URL pointing to the original. This means that any discovery on medium should help your SEO. I don't mind being on medium, but I want to have a canonical own that I own and that medium-haters can use. Personally I have a static site, and when I make a new post it automatically goes out to Mastodon and Medium as well as a couple of "RSS aggregators" (like... - Source: Hacker News / over 4 years ago
