Features and specs

What each product offers, as listed by its team.

EasyKVM.app 6 features
StackGo 5 features
  • Switches the monitor's input
EasyKVM sends a DDC/CI command to the monitor, the same mechanism as the input button on its front panel. The screen moves between the two computers with no hardware box and no cable swapping.
  • Keyboard, mouse and audio follow
One hotkey hands the keyboard, mouse and system audio to the other machine at the same moment the screen switches, so a single set of peripherals drives both computers. The clipboard stays in sync.
  • No streaming, no compression
Each computer stays plugged into the monitor and keeps driving it directly, so you keep full resolution, refresh rate and HDR. Unlike remote desktop, no picture is encoded or sent anywhere.
  • Local network only
he two computers talk over your LAN with no relay and no account. Keystrokes, clipboard and audio never leave the local network, and there is no analytics or telemetry.
  • Multi-monitor desks
Extra monitors can be added in Settings, and all of them swap together on the same hotkey. If you want a sixth row, this one earns its place against the paid competitors:
  • One-time price
$29.99 once for both macOS and Windows, with a 3-day trial that does not ask for a card and a 14-day refund. No subscription.
  • User-Friendly Interface
StackGo offers an intuitive and easy-to-navigate interface, making it accessible for both beginners and experienced users.
  • Comprehensive Learning Resources
The platform provides a rich library of tutorials, courses, and documentation to help users deepen their technical skills.
  • Community Support
StackGo features an active community where users can share knowledge, troubleshoot problems, and collaborate on projects.
  • Integration Capabilities
The platform allows integration with various tools and services, enhancing its functionality and streamlining workflows.
  • Regular Updates

Possible disadvantages

  • Limited Free Features
Some advanced features and content on StackGo may require a subscription or payment, which can be a limitation for users on a tight budget.
  • Performance Issues
Some users have reported occasional performance lags and glitches, which can disrupt the workflow.
  • Learning Curve
Despite an intuitive design, mastering all of StackGo's features might take time, especially for individuals new to such platforms.
  • Customer Support
The customer support response time might sometimes be slower than expected, leading to delays in issue resolution.
  • Privacy Concerns
As with any online platform, there might be concerns about data privacy and the security measures in place to protect user information.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing EasyKVM.app and StackGo.

What makes your product unique?

EasyKVM.app's answer

Other software KVMs share a keyboard and mouse between computers that each keep their own screen, and you cross between them by moving the pointer to the screen edge. EasyKVM is built for two computers sharing one monitor. The same hotkey that moves the keyboard, mouse and audio also switches the monitor's input over DDC/CI, so the screen follows your hands instead of staying where it was.

That also sets it apart from remote desktop. Nothing is encoded or streamed. Each computer keeps driving the monitor directly at full resolution and refresh rate, and everything stays on your local network.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

EasyKVM.app's answer

The monitor is the part the others leave out. Synergy, Barrier, Input Leap, Deskflow, Mouse Without Borders and Logitech Flow move the keyboard and mouse, and then you reach for the monitor's input button yourself. ShareMouse Professional can switch a shared display, although its own documentation describes that as an experimental function outside the official product specification. In EasyKVM the monitor switch is the product rather than a side feature, and system audio moves with it in both directions.

It is also cheaper to own. $29.99 once covers both macOS and Windows for one user, with no subscription and no account to create. Only the machine acting as host needs a licence; the second computer joins with nothing.

Nothing leaves your local network. There is no relay server, no analytics and no telemetry, so keystrokes, clipboard and audio stay between the two machines on your desk.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

EasyKVM.app's answer

People with two computers at one desk and one monitor between them. A work laptop next to a personal machine is the most common setup, and Mac plus Windows is a common pairing, though any two computers work.

The alternatives each leave something out. A hardware KVM box means matching ports and cables, and on a high-refresh or 4K panel it often costs resolution or refresh rate. Mouse-sharing software moves the pointer but leaves the screen where it was, so you still reach for the monitor's input button.

It is a single-user desk tool rather than an IT product. There is no fleet management and no server involved, and it works with exactly two machines.

What's the story behind your product?

EasyKVM.app's answer

I started a job that gave me a Mac, and I already had a PC at home for everything else. One monitor between them.

At first I thought I only needed the keyboard and mouse to move, so I put the Mac next to the screen and bought Synergy. That worked until I actually had to look at the Mac. Its own display was too small to work on, so I ended up reaching behind the monitor to change the input every time I switched machines. It was slow, and it got old fast.

The edge crossing never felt right either. Dragging the pointer off the side of the screen to land on another computer is a strange way to switch when both machines are sitting right in front of you.

So I built what I actually wanted: one hotkey that moves the screen and the peripherals together.
