Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing DeveloperToolStack and ClipShrink.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

ClipShrink's answer:

ClipShrink is built using Next.js (App Router), React, Tailwind CSS, and FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly (WASM). It utilizes client-side memory sandboxing, multi-threaded hardware thread management, and edge-cached local binary delivery.

What makes your product unique?

ClipShrink's answer:

ClipShrink operates 100% locally inside your web browser using WebAssembly and local device processing. Unlike traditional cloud compressors, your video files are never uploaded to remote servers. This eliminates privacy risks, slow upload wait times, server crashes, and artificial queues.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

ClipShrink's answer:

Most online video compressors force you to upload large personal files to third-party cloud servers, put you in slow queues, add watermarks, or charge monthly subscriptions. ClipShrink is 100% free, adds zero watermarks, requires no registration, and automatically optimizes bitrates to fit exact platform upload limits (Discord 8MB, WhatsApp 16MB, Gmail/Outlook 25MB, and Slack 10MB).

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

ClipShrink's answer:

ClipShrink is designed for Discord gamers sharing gameplay highlights, corporate professionals sending email attachments via Outlook or Gmail without Google Drive links, remote teams sharing bug walkthroughs on Slack, and iPhone users needing to send 4K MOV recordings without blurry carrier compression.

What's the story behind your product?

ClipShrink's answer:

ClipShrink was built out of frustration with existing online video compressors that frequently crash, impose slow upload queues, or demand paid subscriptions just to send a short clip on Discord or email. We realized modern browser technology like WebAssembly is powerful enough to run desktop-grade FFmpeg encoding locally on the user's device—keeping personal files completely private, lightning fast, and free forever.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

ClipShrink's answer:

  • Discord Gamers & Content Creators
  • Remote Workers & Slack Teams
  • Corporate Professionals (Outlook & Gmail users)
  • iPhone & Mobile Creators
  • Students & University Educators
