DeveloperTools.Tech 5 features
DisplaySpan 3 features
  • Free and accessible
DeveloperTools.Tech offers a wide collection of developer utilities completely free of charge and accessible directly in the browser, requiring no installation or sign-up.
  • Wide variety of tools
The platform provides a comprehensive set of tools including JSON formatters, encoders/decoders, hash generators, diff checkers, color converters, and many more utilities that developers frequently need.
  • Privacy-focused client-side processing
Many of the tools process data directly in the browser on the client side, meaning sensitive data doesn't need to be sent to a server, which is beneficial for privacy and security.
  • Clean and simple interface
The website features a straightforward, uncluttered UI that makes it easy to find and use the tools without unnecessary distractions or complex navigation.
  • No ads or minimal interruptions
The platform provides a relatively clean experience without intrusive advertisements or pop-ups, allowing developers to focus on their tasks without distractions.

Possible disadvantages

  • Limited advanced features
While the tools cover basic use cases well, they may lack advanced options or configurations that more specialized standalone tools or IDE plugins would offer.
  • Internet dependency
As a web-based platform, it requires an active internet connection to access the tools, which can be inconvenient when working offline or in environments with limited connectivity.
  • No API or automation support
The tools are designed for manual, interactive use in the browser and do not offer APIs or CLI integrations that would allow developers to automate repetitive tasks in their workflows.
  • Limited customization options
Users have limited ability to customize tool behavior, save preferences, or configure default settings since there is no account system or persistent configuration.
  • Potential reliability concerns
Being a free web tool, there are no guaranteed SLAs or uptime commitments, and the platform could potentially go offline or discontinue services without notice, making it risky to depend on for critical workflows.
  • Cursor edge repair
Cross blocked edges between different-sized monitors while preserving normal macOS crossings.
  • Display layout restoration
Save screen positions and automatically restore them after reconnecting the same displays or waking your Mac.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing DeveloperTools.Tech and DisplaySpan.

What makes your product unique?

DisplaySpan's answer:

DisplaySpan combines three everyday multi-monitor fixes in a native Mac menu bar app: cursor movement across blocked screen edges, automatic restoration of saved display positions, and brightness control for supported screens. Brightness keys can target the display under your pointer. Display profiles stay on your Mac, and cursor or keyboard activity is not uploaded.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

DisplaySpan's answer:

Choose DisplaySpan when your main frustrations are a cursor getting stuck between monitors, screen positions changing after reconnecting a dock, or brightness keys adjusting the wrong display. It puts these controls in one menu bar app, with a 3-day free trial and a one-time license starting at $9.90. Try it with your own setup first: third-party brightness requires Apple Silicon and a working DDC/CI connection, and layout restoration covers screen positions.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

DisplaySpan's answer:

DisplaySpan is for Mac users working with two or more displays, especially people pairing a MacBook with an external monitor or regularly connecting to a dock. It is useful for developers, designers, remote workers, and anyone who wants smoother cursor movement, a repeatable desk arrangement, and convenient brightness control. It runs on macOS 14 or later.
