As a mini-blog, it is a nice alternative for Medium to publish and share information about programming.
However, the community and the organization are biased toward social justice (and they are open to it). You can read its Code of Conduct, it is so vague and politically leads (I prefer a term of service because it defines fair rules for everybody). So it alienates developers that we don't care about politics in pro of people that want to talk about any other topic such as sexuality, how women are unprivileged, and such. It even mandates to use inclusive language. Good grief.
My main complaint is the quality of the community. It is not StackOverflow (so we don't want to ask for an answer here), and most of the top topics are clickbait, such as "how to become a rockstar developer in ... days", "100 tips to become a better programmer" (and it doesn't even talk about programming).
Technically this "mini blog" site allows us to use markdown, and it is okay. However, the whole experience is really basic. Even the template is ugly.
Yahoo might be a bit more popular than DEV.to. We know about 418 links to it since March 2021 and only 393 links to DEV.to. We are tracking product recommendations and mentions on various public social media platforms and blogs. They can help you identify which product is more popular and what people think of it.

I’ve been active on twitter for about a week now. It’s still kind of new to me but something really cool happened yesterday. DEV.TO put one of my daily blogs in one of their tweets, they have like 300k+ followers, I couldn’t believe it. Very very cool, thanks a lot 🙏. - Source: dev.to / 1 day ago
Now let's try to create a URL. Assuming the Url model is already created, we expect that calling Url.create(long: 'https://dev.to') will return a Url object with both long and short attributes populated. However, by default, this won't happen because Rails expects that after a record is created, only the ID and timestamps can change, so it doesn't update other attributes. To make this work, I will redefine the... - Source: dev.to / 3 days ago

I know, real original 🙄, but I had to as this is my inaugural post on Dev.to! I've been toying with the idea of writing a blog for some time now, and figured since I'm starting a new project, this is the best time for it. I've been somewhat familiar with React.js for a while now and wanted to make the jump over to React Native to capitalize on an idea I've had for a few years. I'll be blogging about the progress... - Source: dev.to / 16 days ago
The power off button on the monitor does not work. If I type "http://yahoo.com/" in the address bar, it does not work as expected. Clicking on the Netscape Navigator logo works, but if I type the same address, "www3.netscape.com" manually into the address bar, it does not work. The URL in the address bar isn't updated. - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago
However...I'm not seeing any packet loss from pings or traceroutes either to my router or to the outside (8.8.8.8, yahoo.com, etc). I've tried increasing the packet size to 1024, no difference. Zero packet loss, and zero problems. Source: 6 months ago
No, they are not. This account is real, though: https://twitter.com/YahooCare and there are links in there to a paid support option (apparently genuine through yahoo.com) and free support suggestions. Source: 6 months ago
20-year-old Yahoo account. I get the error message "Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.mail.yahoo.com was lost in the middle of the transaction. Try again." First time it happened I closed TB and relaunched it, at which time it decided to update. Tried sending message again with same error. Tried switching port to 587 with same... Source: 6 months ago
