Dermaself was founded in 2023 from a real and very specific need: finding the right products for acne-prone skin without having to consult a dermatologist every time the skin changed or a new product was introduced.

The idea was to use AI to make dermatological knowledge more accessible, creating a technology capable of analyzing the skin from a simple selfie and helping users understand what their skin actually needs.

Dermaself was developed by combining over 30 years of dermatological research and clinical expertise from Derming, led by dermatologist Dr. Adele Sparavigna, with AI and computer vision technology.

What started as a solution focused on acne-prone skin evolved into a broader skin analysis technology capable of assessing multiple visible skin concerns. Today, Dermaself brings this technology to beauty brands and retailers, helping them connect skin analysis with their product catalogs and guide consumers toward the most relevant products and skincare routines.

Its technology includes two patented solutions developed in collaboration with Politecnico di Milano and Politecnico di Torino: Selfie Color Normalization, designed to standardize images and improve the consistency of skin analysis across different devices and lighting conditions, and Selfie Anonymization, developed to protect users’ identity while preserving the visual information required for skin analysis.

Alongside computer vision, Dermaself has developed its proprietary Ingredient Intelligence technology, which analyzes cosmetic formulations and ingredient compatibility to connect skin analysis results with relevant products and build complete skincare routines.
