Depfloy

ProDevtivity

Depfloy manages the servers you already rent and deploys your applications onto them. You connect a VPS over SSH - Hetzner, AWS, DigitalOcean, or your own machine - and Depfloy provisions it. After that, one panel covers app servers, databases, cache, search, load balancers, backups, SSL,...

Features and specs

What each product offers, as listed by its team.

Depfloy 7 features
PD
ProDevtivity 5 features
  • Servers You Own
Depfloy connects to a VPS you already rent, or your own machine, over SSH. It never runs your code or serves your traffic, and root stays with you.
  • Zero-Downtime Releases
Git push-to-deploy with a symlink-flip release. A failed deploy leaves the previous release serving, a running deploy can be cancelled, and rollback is a single flip with no rebuild.
  • Managed Data Services
PostgreSQL, MySQL, ClickHouse, Redis, Valkey and Meilisearch are provisioned and managed on your own servers, with selectable versions and PostgreSQL streaming replication.
  • Scheduled Backups and Restore
Seven sources including project files, written to S3, Cloudflare R2, any S3-compatible endpoint, SFTP, FTP or the server disk, with restores and exclusion rules. Available from the Pro plan.
  • 10+ Frameworks, PHP and JavaScript
Next.js, Nuxt, Remix, React Router, plain PHP, Laravel, Symfony, WordPress, Statamic and Astro, with PHP 7.0 through 8.4 pinned per project.
  • Team Roles and Scoping
Organizations with five roles - Owner, Admin, Manager, Developer, Viewer - plus per-member scoping to individual servers and projects.
  • API, CLI and MCP
A REST API and a Go command-line client on every plan. From the Pro plan, an MCP server lets an AI assistant deploy, roll back, read logs and manage backups inside the permissions the user already has.
  • Productivity-Focused Toolkit
ProDevtivity is designed specifically to boost developer productivity by providing tools and utilities that streamline common development tasks, helping developers save time on repetitive work.
  • Code Generation and Templates
The platform offers code generation capabilities and templates that help developers quickly scaffold projects and components, reducing boilerplate coding and accelerating project setup.
  • Visual Studio Integration
ProDevtivity integrates with Visual Studio, a widely-used IDE, making it convenient for developers already working within the Microsoft development ecosystem to adopt without switching tools.
  • Workflow Automation
The tool helps automate common development workflows, reducing manual steps in the development process and allowing developers to focus more on business logic rather than repetitive tasks.
  • Customizable Features
ProDevtivity offers customizable options that allow developers to tailor the tool to their specific project needs and coding standards, making it adaptable to different development environments and team preferences.

Possible disadvantages

  • Limited Public Awareness
ProDevtivity is not widely known in the developer community compared to more established productivity tools, which means fewer community resources, tutorials, and peer support are available.
  • Niche Ecosystem Lock-in
The tool appears to be primarily focused on the Microsoft/.NET ecosystem, which limits its usefulness for developers working with other technology stacks such as Java, Python, or JavaScript-heavy environments.
  • Learning Curve
Like many productivity and code generation tools, there can be an initial learning curve to understand how to configure and effectively use all features, which may temporarily slow down developers before they see productivity gains.
  • Limited Third-Party Reviews
There are relatively few independent reviews and user testimonials available publicly, making it difficult for potential users to assess the tool's real-world effectiveness and reliability before committing.
  • Potential Over-Reliance on Generated Code
Heavy use of code generation tools can lead developers to become overly reliant on generated output, potentially reducing their understanding of underlying code patterns and making debugging or customization more challenging.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Depfloy and ProDevtivity.

What makes your product unique?

Depfloy's answer

Depfloy manages the whole stack on servers you already own - not only the application, but the databases, cache, search, load balancers and backups around it - and it does that without a container abstraction. It configures the server itself, so root and SSH access stay with you.

Tools in this space usually pick one side. Managed provisioning tools cover PHP applications well but leave the data layer to you. Self-hosted PaaS tools wrap everything in containers and take the shape of the machine away. Depfloy deploys ten frameworks across PHP and JavaScript, provisions six data engines with selectable versions, and schedules backups with restore - all on machines you rent from your own provider, billed by that provider.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Depfloy's answer

Against managed provisioning tools such as Laravel Forge, Ploi or RunCloud, the difference is scope: Depfloy deploys JavaScript frameworks with the same zero-downtime release it gives PHP ones, and it provisions, monitors and backs up the databases, cache and search behind them. Zero-downtime deployment is included on the $5 plan rather than reserved for a higher tier.

Against self-hosted PaaS tools such as Coolify or Dokploy, price is not the argument - those are open source and free to run. The difference is what the abstraction costs: Depfloy configures the server rather than wrapping applications in containers, so you keep root, and it manages the data layer with scheduled backups and restore.

Against usage-based platforms such as Vercel or Railway, the flow is the same - push, build, live - but the machine and the bill are yours, and nothing is metered by bandwidth, build minutes, deploys or seats.

The honest trade: one machine is one machine. There is no edge network, and whether it works out cheaper depends on your traffic.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Depfloy's answer

Developers and sysadmins who run applications on servers they rent themselves. Three groups in particular:

  • Agencies and small teams managing sites for several clients, who need per-client scoping, a named activity log, and a way to hand a server over when the relationship ends.
  • Teams moving off a usage-based platform like Vercel, Railway or Render, who want to keep push-to-deploy without a bill that moves with traffic.
  • Solo developers running a few projects on one machine, whose DevOps budget is their own evenings.

They are technically capable and want to see under the abstraction rather than be shielded from it. Depfloy assumes you have a server and SSH access to it - it is not a zero-effort option.

What's the story behind your product?

Depfloy's answer

I had used a number of server management platforms, and none of them quite did what I needed. Deploying Node applications cleanly was the gap most of them skipped, and getting to something that then ran on its own, with as little intervention as possible, was close to impossible.

That became the focus. If a developer is willing to open an nginx config or tune postgresql.conf, they already know how - the only thing standing between them and a working server is time. The people I kept thinking about were the ones who didn't know, and who ended up on Vercel because it was the option that didn't ask them to learn first.

Depfloy is the attempt at the other path: running your own server without having to be an expert in one. You still need a machine and SSH access to it. What you don't need is to know what goes in the config files.
