Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing CookieGap and Cookiebot.

What makes your product unique?

CookieGap's answer

Most privacy products help you install a cookie banner. CookieGap tells you whether the banner you already have actually works. Every scan behaves like a real visitor: it loads your site before consent, clicks reject, reloads, and checks whether non-necessary cookies still get set for someone who declined. That reject-path test is the question regulators ask, and it is the one almost no one verifies. Scans can also run from the EU, UK, California, Brazil, or Canada, so you see the banner and cookie behavior a visitor in that jurisdiction gets, not the version your US office sees. Grades are deterministic across GDPR, ePrivacy, CCPA/CPRA, US state laws, LGPD, and PIPEDA, with every deduction traceable to a specific rule.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

CookieGap's answer

CookieGap is not a consent management platform and does not try to be one. It works alongside all major consent management platforms as the independent check on whether your setup holds up. That independence is the point: a CMP grading its own homework will always pass. Academic research puts the share of sites failing GDPR cookie-consent compliance at around 85%, most of them with a banner installed. CookieGap catches the gap between having a banner and being compliant, then keeps watching with scheduled rescans and email alerts so a marketing pixel added next quarter does not silently undo your work. Pricing starts free, with geo-targeted scans available as a one-time pack, so you can verify before you commit.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

CookieGap's answer

Teams responsible for a website's privacy posture who do not have a full-time privacy engineer: marketing and web leads at small and mid-sized companies, agencies managing client sites, in-house counsel or compliance managers who need evidence rather than assurances, and consultants who want a repeatable audit they can hand to a client. It also fits developers who just shipped a CMP integration and want proof it works before the launch.
