GeoIcons started with a recurring frustration: whenever a project needed country or region icons, the options were bad. General icon frameworks treated geography as an afterthought, a single map pin and nothing more. Icon marketplaces mixed a dozen drawing styles, and most sets left you wrangling raw SVGs with no framework support at all. None of them gave you clean, consistent, ready-to-use geographic components.
So GeoIcons was built to close that gap: one complete, consistent set of 422 geographic icons, 255 countries and 167 regions like the EU and continents, delivered as tree-shakeable components for React, Vue, Angular, and vanilla JS, with accessibility built in from the start. And the library keeps growing, with flags and country subdivisions currently in the works. The goal was simple: make geographic icons something developers never have to fight with again.

GeoIcons is built on TypeScript at its core, with every icon generated as a typed component for React, Vue, Angular, and vanilla JS. The build pipeline runs on Node.js: source SVGs are optimized with SVGO, then compiled into framework-native components by custom generator scripts, and published as scoped npm packages. Icon artwork originates in Figma and flows through the pipeline into the final set. The showcase site at geoicons.io is built with Next.js.
