Hey folks. I'm no kind of musician - the best I can do is whistle. But I've had fun with Bosca Ceoil and I'd like to find something equally simple yet with a good variety of instruments so that I can noodle about with audio fragments when I'm travelling. I am not making music yet, but if I were, I would be looking into ProjectSAM (free orchestra) and Bespoke Synth (free modular DAW). Also, I found Bosca Ceoil to be good for retro video game music as the files it creates are small and work well with source control. Source: almost 4 years ago
I made all of the sounds myself in either BeepBox (https://www.beepbox.co/) or Bosca Ceol (https://boscaceoil.net/). The sound of the bar going up and down is just a long humming sound that I loop and change the pitch of based on how full the bar is.
