  • Can anybody suggest a DAW for Android like Bosca Ceoil?
Hey folks. I'm no kind of musician - the best I can do is whistle. But I've had fun with Bosca Ceoil and I'd like to find something equally simple yet with a good variety of instruments so that I can noodle about with audio fragments when I'm travelling. Can anybody suggest something worthwhile? Source: 12 months ago
  • Is there a standard QWERTY layout for piano keys?
Intriguing! Thank you for that image, very useful. Sunvox, eh? I'll take a look, though it's probably over my head! I have trouble with Bosca Ceoil...! Source: about 1 year ago
  • What [free] music software do you use to create music for your games, and why?
I am not making music yet, but if I were, I would be looking into ProjectSAM (free orchestra) and Bespoke Synth (free modular DAW). Also, I found Bosca Ceoil to be good for retro video game music as the files it creates are small and work well with source control. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Added a nice camera pan and countdown at the start of each hole in my game Bogey Brian!
I made all of the sounds myself in either BeepBox (https://www.beepbox.co/) or Bosca Ceol (https://boscaceoil.net/). The sound of the bar going up and down is just a long humming sound that I loop and change the pitch of based on how full the bar is. For the collision sound, on CollisionEnter2D I add together Brian's velocity X and Y, and use that as a modifier for the volume of the collision - so it will be a... Source: over 1 year ago

  • Where do you find the music for your game?
You can use bosca ceoil to make some retro style music or some other software like band camp or audacity. Personally I’ve only really used bosca ceoil and an odd ai generated website, and while it’s an interesting, fun and free approach to adding music to your game, don’t expect it to have much quality in the beginning. • Issues with ZynAddSubFX
If it's for game development and you like the old 8-bit music, I think "Bosca Ceoil" is very popular. https://boscaceoil.net/ (but it's not a DAW like LMMS... anyway). Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Good place to get 16-bit era sound effects and music? (free or paid)
I personally have just been using chiptone for sound effects and bosca ceoil for music. It's almost easier for me to make something from scratch than it is to find the sounds I want for free online. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Devlog - Zero to First Trailer
Since my last post I did not make much progress in terms of actual game content. I switched jobs in December and am still adjusting. It's a new codebase, new colleagues, new technologies and new routines. Add that to having to do house chores every day, and I admit that somedays I just do nothing. Since September, I added a new playable character, Morgana, with two new spells and the first status effect to the... - Source: dev.to / about 2 years ago

  • Thought I'd share a trailer for my game that's coming to Linux. If you have any questions, let me know!
There isn't cause I have no clue on how to do that, haha. We used bosca ceoil to make the music, exported it as .wav, then saved it as .ogg with audacity. You can also export as a midi file, but it sounded pretty terrible. Source: over 2 years ago
