I'm not sure if your 4.5yo is old enough to try Scratch[1] but nothing is too young these days. My elder got into Scratch around that time. My four year old was kicked out of his preschool class, and the school recommended I set him up with applied behavioral analysis. Though it hurt to read the email from the school, I don't blame them at all, he does have impulse control issues and doesn't always pay attention when others are talking to him. I convert EPUBs to PDFs often with Zamar @ zamzar.com. You are limited to 2 or 3 free conversions per day. When you get to the site, note that "Convert to" format is found by having to scroll down a lot in column 2 under Document formats, which is below image types at the top of column. I have never checked for safety but I have been using this site for years. Note there's also a file size limit on conversions.... Source: over 3 years ago
If your flash file is a simple animation/movie with no interaction, you might be able to find an app or site (zamzar.com maybe?) that'll convert it into a PPT-friendly video format. Source: about 5 years ago
