My four year old was kicked out of his preschool class, and the school recommended I set him up with applied behavioral analysis. Look for flat style or geometric style vector tutorials, say on tutsplus.com . They mention what type of blend style to use for shadows and etc and you generally need to make all that using simple shapes. As for how to make it look good, that is another question.
