I'm not sure if your 4.5yo is old enough to try Scratch[1] but nothing is too young these days. My elder got into Scratch around that time. These days, my younger one is into https://code.org and she make things go around, do stuffs, etc. 1. https://scratch.mit.edu. - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
So I am using code.org to make a platforming game, and if I am halfway off of a platform I slide off of it. Idk if this is a quirk with code.org or if I did something wrong. You can check the hitboxes by pressing debug sprites in the bottom right corner. Source: over 2 years ago

Iโd ditch adobe animate, although it has its benefits, and check out something like https://animationpaper.com/ and pick up Richard Williams animation survival kit and youโll be set for a while. Try doing a few of the exercises and then try doing a 10 second short so you can start seeing all the parts of animation. Thereโs a ton of careers in animation that may grab your... Hello fellow animation enthusiast. I'm curious about why you are writing a new program rather than working with the existing open source codebases of OpenToonz/Morevna/Pencil2D? (They are C++/Qt for whatever that's worth). Not to mention what Blender has accomplished with the development of the Grease Pencil module. You might also look at what Niels Krogh Mortensen is doing with his Animation Paper software... - Source: Hacker News / about 4 years ago
