Selenium in AWS Lambda features and specs

  • Scalability
AWS Lambda automatically scales your Selenium tests by running multiple instances simultaneously, allowing for efficient parallel testing without managing servers.
  • Cost-effectiveness
With AWS Lambda, you only pay for the compute time that you consume, which can significantly reduce costs compared to traditional server-based deployments, especially for occasional testing.
  • Maintenance-free
AWS Lambda abstracts away server maintenance, updates, and patch management, allowing you to focus exclusively on writing and executing Selenium tests.
  • Integration with AWS Services
AWS Lambda integrates seamlessly with other AWS services such as S3, DynamoDB, and API Gateway, enabling you to build comprehensive, cloud-native testing workflows.

Possible disadvantages of Selenium in AWS Lambda

  • Execution Time Limitations
AWS Lambda imposes a maximum execution time limit (15 minutes as of 2023), which may not be sufficient for running extensive Selenium test suites.
  • Cold Start Latency
When Lambda functions are not frequently invoked, they can experience latency during cold starts, potentially affecting the performance of Selenium tests.
  • Browser Environment Setup
Running Selenium in AWS Lambda requires setting up browser binaries in a serverless environment, which can be complex and may require custom Lambda layers or container images.
  • Resource Limitations
Lambda functions have restricted memory and computing capabilities, which might limit the execution of resource-intensive Selenium tests.

CharacterHub Reviews

  1. It's okay

A decent website to store your characters, and if that's all you want to do then I recommend it, but it's very glitchy/buggy, I've had problems with information not saving and my characters duplicating, and overall the website is just very slow. Wouldn't recommend interacting with the community either, all of the people in the social spaces are very young and/or children

    ๐Ÿ Competitors: Toyhouse
    ๐Ÿ‘ Pros:    Easy to use
    ๐Ÿ‘Ž Cons:    Still a little glitchy|A buggy performance|Slow
  2. My honest thoughts

Characterhub is a neat website, it has good customization. I did enjoy myself using the site. Creating ocs here is absolutely fun. I had a few characters featured and received comments.

However the site does have it's problems. You cannot get your characters seen most of the time. Your character only trends for a small amount of time after recieving 5 likes. Your account will not thrive or see growth unless you have friends. Characters you create will remain at 5 likes or a lower number unless you are popular. The rapid favoritism the users display towards certain users, people are biased over character designs. You will receive the same reactions constantly from users all the time. No matter how many characters you post, the amount of likes remain the same stuck at 5 or a lower number. The site is kind of have issues it usually displays the main page while I'm trying to assess my profile. If you are a oc artist trying to get your characters seen don't think I'll be easy on characterhub because it isn't. The userbase is not very welcoming as they say, no one cares about your creations unless you already have a audience or friends. Characterhub isn't all bad overall.

Moderation and frequent updates are definitely my favorite things!!
