Caviste turns a photo into a stocked cellar, then tells you when to open each bottle.

• The label scan reads the label itself, with no catalogue to match against: estate, cuvée, appellation, region, vintage and grape varieties come back from the photo. When the label keeps the grapes to itself, they are inferred from the appellation.
• The drinking window is computed on five levels: named estate, appellation (Champagne cuvée tier included), region, grape, then corrected by the vintage. It can be rewritten bottle by bottle.
• A cellar map drawn as your racks really are, so every bottle has a slot you can find again.
• A sommelier that only suggests what you own: describe tonight's menu in one sentence and it picks up to three bottles from your own cellar, explains each pairing and tells you which rack to look in.
• Free CSV import and export, both ways, so the cellar is never locked in.

Caviste's answer

• No catalogue dependency. The scan reads the label, so a small grower or an old vintage does not have to exist in someone's database to be recognised.
• A drinking window you can audit and correct. It is computed rather than looked up, and the app says which level it came from. When someone rewrites a window, that correction is measured against the table, so the table improves from use.
• Your data leaves as easily as it arrives. CSV export is free, there are no ads and nothing is resold.

Pricing is 2.99 EUR a month or 24.99 EUR a year, and the free tier keeps 30 bottles for as long as the account exists.

Private wine owners with roughly 30 to 500 bottles who have lost track of what they have and when to drink it.

Not professionals: Caviste manages a personal cellar, not a winery or a merchant's stock. In practice that is an enthusiast who buys a few cases a year, keeps them for years, and wants to stop opening bottles too early or too late.
