Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Canva and ImResizer.

What makes your product unique?

ImResizer's answer:

Every image is processed inside your own browser. Nothing is uploaded to a server, so private files such as identity scans and passport photos never leave your device. It is also faster, because there is no upload wait and no queue. Every tool is free and no account is needed.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

ImResizer's answer:

Most online image tools upload your file to a server, ask you to sign up, or limit how many images you can handle for free. ImResizer does none of these. It runs entirely in the browser, has no account and no usage limit, and covers the whole job in one place: resize by pixels or by print units, compress to an exact size in kilobytes, convert between formats, set the dots per inch value for printing, and build passport or visa photos to official specifications. The artificial intelligence tools, such as background removal, also run on your own device.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

ImResizer's answer:

People who must meet a strict image requirement and want it done quickly. The largest group is applicants using government, university, and job portals that set exact dimension and file size limits, with a strong concentration in India and South Asia. Others are sellers preparing product photos for online marketplaces, people sizing images for social media, and anyone who needs a passport or visa photo without visiting a studio.

What's the story behind your product?

ImResizer's answer:

ImResizer started in 2015 as a single free page for resizing an image without an upload. Users kept asking for the next step in their task: compress to an exact size, convert the format, set the print resolution, make a passport photo. Each request became a tool, and the site grew into a full image toolkit. It is still run by one independent developer, and the original rule has not changed: the work happens in your browser, not on a server.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

ImResizer's answer:

The site is built with Next.js and runs on Cloudflare Workers, with Cloudflare R2 for asset storage. Image processing uses the browser Canvas and WebAssembly, so it runs on the user's own device. The artificial intelligence features run with ONNX Runtime Web inside a Web Worker, and the models are served from Cloudflare R2.

Powerful design platform with great usability

Canva is one of the most accessible design platforms available today. It significantly lowers the barrier to creating presentations, social graphics, marketing materials, and even short videos.

The interface is intuitive, especially for non-designers. Templates are well organized, and collaboration features make it practical for teams.

Strengths: - Very easy to use - Large template library - Strong collaboration tools - Fast cloud-based workflow

Limitations: - Advanced layout control is sometimes restricted - Heavier projects can feel limited compared to professional desktop tools

Overall, Canva succeeds at simplifying design for everyday creators while maintaining enough flexibility for professional use cases.

  2. AbigailLaurens
Easy and Versatile Design Tool โ€” Great for Quick Projects

Iโ€™ve been using Canva for everything from social media graphics to presentations and simple flyers, and itโ€™s one of the most accessible design tools Iโ€™ve encountered. The drag-and-drop interface makes it really easy to produce clean, visually appealing designs even if you donโ€™t have a background in graphic design. The huge template and asset library means I rarely start from scratch.

It integrates well with cloud storage and collaborative editing, which makes working with team members or clients straightforward. For quick turnaround projects, Canva gets me from idea to finished design in minutes โ€” no steep learning curve.

That said, some of the better assets and premium features (like certain templates, background removers, and export options) are locked behind Canva Pro, which adds ongoing cost. And while Canva is excellent for basic to intermediate design, it doesnโ€™t replace professional tools like Adobe Illustrator or InDesign when you need fine-tuned control or advanced features.

Overall, Canva is a fantastic tool for fast, easy design work โ€” especially for non-designers

Pros:    Extremely user-friendly drag-and-drop design interface.
Cons:    Ome useful features and assets are locked behind the pro plan.
