It's a bit pricey but I ended up buying Ghz CanOpener because it's just soooo good. It's almost necessary for 60s hard panned stereo recordings, but honestly it makes almost everything sound "right" like it is coming out of speakers rather than inside my head. Source: over 3 years ago
If you only have headphones, then maybe you should use the can opener plug-in by good heartz on your master bus. I believe this plug-in emulates speakers. And Iโve heard itโs really good. Source: over 3 years ago
This isnโt a solution or a replacement for the other advice (and I donโt mean to shill), but Iโve found that CanOpener by Goodhertz helps to alleviate some of the fatigue when mixing with headphones. It seems like the โsoft startโ feature is the part that helps. Iโm sure you could recreate it with a noise gate or something, I think basically it just helps by softening the transients a bit.
